[plant morphology] Alpinia altaica
Herbs perennial, 30-50 cm high, all short hairy. Leaves alternate, densely arranged, linear oblanceolate or linear, entire; sessile. The head is solitary at the top of the branch, 2.5 cm in diameter, with pale purple ligulate flowers at the edge and yellow tubular flowers at the center. Achenes flat, obovate.
On hillsides and roadsides. It is distributed in Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia and other places.
The root of this plant is used as "aster" in Xinjiang. See "aster" section
[collection] harvest in summer and autumn, and dry in the shade.
[chemical constituents] the leaves contain demethylchuansu.
[flavor] slightly bitter and cool.
Functions and indications: clearing away heat, reducing fire and discharging pus. Treatment of infectious fever, liver and gallbladder fire, herpes sores.
[usage and dosage] oral: decoction, 1.5 ~ 3 yuan.
