[plant morphology] Holly (materia medica of Tang Dynasty), also known as frozen green and frozen green (materia medica Collection), Holly wood (materia medica Atlas), wannianzhi (qunfangpu? Mubu), big leaf frozen green (yilinzuoyao), and Sijiqing.

Evergreen trees, up to 12 m tall. Bark gray or grayish, glabrous. Leaves alternate, leathery, usually narrow elliptic, 6-10 cm long and 2-3.5 cm wide, apex acuminate, base cuneate, rarely rounded, margin sparsely serrate, dark green and glossy above, purplish red in winter, midrib raised below; petiole 5-15 mm long. Flowers unisexual, dioecious, cymes inserted in or outside leaf axils; calyx 4-lobed; petals 4, lavender; stamens 4; ovary superior. The drupe is oval, 6-10 mm long, red, containing 4 nuclei, and the peduncle is about 5 mm long. The flowering period is May. The fruit ripens in October.

In the forest. It is distributed in the south of Changhui basin.
