[plant morphology] Prunus chinensis
Shrubs, up to 2 m high. Branchlets glabrous. Leaf blade ovate to ovate, long elliptic, 5-11 cm long, 3-6 cm wide, apex long acuminate, base rounded to subcordate, sparsely broadly cuneate, margin doubly serrate, often irregularly divided, sparsely undivided, glabrous on both sides or pilose in axils of veins below; petiole 0.7-1.5 cm long, pubescent or nearly glabrous. Raceme terminal, 4-9 cm long, glabrous, pedicel 0.3-1 cm long; flowers pale red, 0.6-0.8 cm in diameter; calyx tubular, 1-1.2 cm long, glabrous outside, lobes 5, triangular; petals obovate; stamens 10-15; carpels 1-2, ovary apex hairy. Follicles oblong, calyx lobes persistent, outside sparsely covered with long glandular hairs.
It grows in mixed forest on hillside, valley or gully. It is distributed in Henan, Gansu, Shaanxi, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Guangdong, Guangxi, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou and other places.
