Nodding Chrysanthemum

[plant morphology] Dendranthema nodosum
Herbs perennial, ca. 35 cm tall. The rhizome is short with persistent leaf residues. Leaf blade oblong to elliptic, entire or slightly serrate. The flower stems are leafy and sessile; the flowers are yellow, ligulate, 1-row, 2-4-toothed; the involucre bracts are 1-row, apex acute, densely covered with black knobby hairs. Achenes angulate, corolla white.
It is found in wet places of hillside grassland. Distributed in Tibet and other places.
[nature and taste] warm in nature, sweet and bitter in taste.
Functions and indications: dispelling phlegm and relieving cough, widening chest and promoting qi. It is used to treat phlegm, asthma, cough, fatigue and headache in the elderly.
[usage and dosage] oral: decoction, 2-4 yuan.
