Perennial plants, up to 50 cm high, with white milk. The root is cylindrical, unbranched, and the outer skin is dark brown; the inner surface is yellowish white. Leaves simple, alternate; oblong, 4.5-6.5 cm long, 1 cm wide, apex obtuse, base cuneate, entire; sessile. The flowers are usually 6-8 on the top of the stem or in the axils of the leaves. Capsule globose, about 1.3 cm in diameter, with soft spines outside, 3-locular dehiscence at maturity. It blooms in summer.
Born on hillside grassland. It is distributed in Yunnan and other places.
