[plant morphology] Vitex trifolia, also known as buquezi and Vernonia.
Shrubs, about 4 m high. Branchlets cylindrical, grayish brown, pubescent when tender, rich in mucus. Leaves opposite, petiole short or nearly sessile, pubescent; leaves ovoid to lanceolate ovoid, 2-6cm long, 7-30mm wide, apex short pointed or acuminate, entire or undulate, sometimes with one or two deep lobes at the top, base wide cuneate or round, green above, light below, densely short hairy, smelly when kneaded. Cyme, flowers light yellow, bracts linear, calyx tube short, hairy. Corolla tubular, short hairy, slightly bilabiform, upper lip slightly concave, lower lip 3-lobed; stamen 4; pistil 1, ovary superior. Nutlets, ca. 4 mm in diam. The flowering period is from May to June.
It grows in a ridge or crevice. It is distributed in the southwest of China.
