[plant morphology] muluopo
Evergreen trees, 8-15 meters high, all with milk. Leaves alternate, thick leathery, elliptic to obovate, 7-15 cm long, apex obtuse and short pointed, base cuneate, entire, leaves on young branches sometimes 3-lobed, glabrous on both sides, glossy above, slightly rough below; petiole 1-2.5 cm long: stipules spatulate, caducous. Flowers unisexual, monoecious; male inflorescence terminal or axillary, cylindrical, 5-8 cm long, 2.5 cm in diameter, perianth 2-lobed, lobes obtuse, stamen 1; female inflorescence cylindrical or oblong, born on stem or main branch of the spherical receptacle. When the fruit matures, it is 25-60 cm long, and the larger one weighs 20 kg. The flowering period is from February to March.
It grows in the tropics. It is cultivated in Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan and Taiwan.
