Life of the characters
Eight chefs
Zhang Miao, the word Mengzhuo, Dongping Shouzhang (now Dongping County, Shandong Province) people. When he was young, he was famous for his chivalry. He helped the poor, helped others and ruined his family. Most of the strong men belonged to him. He was known as one of the "eight chefs". Cao Cao and Yuan Shao were Zhang Miao's friends. The imperial court recruited him as an official, and he was appointed as a captaincy of riding with excellent examination results, and soon he was appointed as Chen Liu's prefect.
Crusade against Dong Zhuo
In the sixth year of Zhongping (189), Dong Zhuo led the army to Chang'an, abolished Liu Bian, the young emperor, and established Liu Xie, the Chenliu king, as the emperor.
Cao Cao and Zhang Miao first enlisted Dong Zhuo. In the battle of bianshui, Zhang Miao sent General Wei Zi to lead his troops to fight with Cao Cao. After Yuan Shao became the leader of the alliance, he was often arrogant, reserved and invincible, and Zhang Miao often directly criticized him. Yuan Shao sent Cao Cao to kill Zhang Miao, but Cao Cao refused. Instead, he blamed Yuan Shao and said, "Meng Zhuo is our good friend, so we should accommodate him anyway. Now that the world is in chaos, we should not kill each other! " After knowing this, Zhang Miao respected Cao Cao even more.
In 193, Cao Cao said to his family, "if I can't come back, you can go to Meng Zhuo." As a result, Cao Cao returned triumphantly. When he saw Zhang Miao, they looked at each other and wept. That's how close their relationship is.
Rebel against Cao Cao
Lu Bu left Yuan Shao and went to Zhang Yang. After Zhang Miao's residence, they left him. They took the oath hand in hand. Yuan Shao was very angry when he heard about it. Zhang Miao was always worried that Cao Cao would kill himself for Yuan Shao. Later, Cao Cao killed the famous scholar Bian rang, which made Yanzhou literati including Zhang Miao feel quite uneasy.
In 194, Cao Cao once again attacked Tao Qian. Zhang Chao, the younger brother of Zhang Miao, discussed with Cao Cao's General Chen Gong, Zhonglang Xu Si and Wang Kai to betray Cao. Chen Gong persuades Zhang Miao: "nowadays, there are so many talented people and the world is divided. You have such a vast land and so many soldiers. You are in the situation of being attacked on all sides. You can also be called a hero among the people, but you are controlled by others. Isn't it harmful to your status? Today, the army in Yanzhou City is marching eastward. The city is empty. Lv Bu is a strong general. He is good at fighting and goes forward bravely. If we welcome him for the time being, occupy Yanzhou together, watch the situation quietly and act according to circumstances, maybe we can make a great career! " Zhang Miao followed his advice.
Defeated and killed
During Cao Cao's eastward expedition to Tao Qian, he asked Chen Gong to lead some soldiers to stay in the East County, so Chen Gong led the group to welcome Lv Bu to the East and let him become a herdsman in Yanzhou, and occupied Puyang. All the counties around him took refuge in Lv Bu one after another. Only juancheng, Dong'e and fan counties did not rebel against Cao Cao Cao. Cao Cao led the main force back to the division and fought fiercely with Lu Bu in Puyang. The situation was very unfavorable to Cao Cao. The two armies had a confrontation for more than 100 days, and they were not divided. It was a time of great drought, locust plague, and crop failure. People ate people. In two years, Cao Cao took back all the lost land and defeated Lv Bu in Juye. Lu Budong fled to Liu Bei. Zhang Miao fled with Lv Bu, leaving Zhang Chao and his family to guard yongqiu. Cao Cao besieged yongqiu for several months, destroyed and slaughtered the city, and killed Zhang Chao and his family. Zhang Miao went to Yuan Shu for help, but he was killed by his subordinates before he saw Yuan Shu.
