Children's book industry
Tong Shuye (1908-1968, January 8) was named Pisheng and Yongan. He was born in Wuhu, Anhui Province. He was a famous historian in the 20th century and a representative of the school of ancient history differentiation. He was once a professor of Shandong University and Guanghua University, and director of the history department and general affairs department of Shanghai Museum. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, he served as professor and deputy director of the History Department of Shandong University. Member of Jiusan Society.
Tong Shuye specializes in the history of the pre Qin period, and also deals with the history of Chinese painting, porcelain and historical geography. I met Mr. Gu Jiegang in 1935. Later, he taught in Shanghai Guanghua University and art college. In August 1949, he was employed as a professor in the Department of history and a researcher in the Institute of literature of Qingdao Shandong University. The main research achievements include 14 monographs and 129 papers. His works include the history of the spring and Autumn period, a brief history of the evolution of China's territory, a history of the development of China's handicraft industry and commerce, and the thoughts of the seven masters in the pre Qin period.
Life of the characters
Born in Wuhu, Anhui Province in 1908. Tong Shuye was self-taught in the old society and did not have a professional diploma.
In the early 1930s, he was taught by Cong Gu Jiegang. Gu Jiegang is a research assistant and "the person who knows me best". Gu Jiegang is an assistant professor of spring and autumn history at Yanjing University and Peking University. His salary is paid by Gu himself, and his board and lodging are also at Gu's home.
In 1945, Yang Kuan worked in Shanghai Museum and employed Tong Shuye as the director of History Department of Shanghai Museum.
In August 1949, introduced by Mr. Yang Xiangkui, Tong Shuye came to Shandong from Shanghai and applied for the post of Professor of history department and researcher of Literature Institute of Shandong University in Qingdao. From then on to his death, teaching at Shanda was a relatively stable period in his life, and some of his works were also written during this period.
In the early 1950s, the History Department of Shandong University once had a prosperous era of "eight horses in the same slot". Mr. Chen Tongxie, Huang Yunmei, Zheng Hesheng, Zhang Weihua, Wang ZhongLuo, Zhao Lisheng, Tong Shuye and Yang Xiangkui co taught in Shandong University. This not only won Shandong University an important position in the field of history, but also laid a good foundation for the historical development of Shandong University.
After the resumption of academic research, Tong Shuye turned its research direction to the textual research of ancient history and ancient books. He began to write notes on the history of Chinese Fine Arts in 1961.
On January 8, 1968, Tong Shuye died. Tong Shuye left Gu Jiegang first. Tong's manuscripts, textual research on Chunqiu Zuozhuan and notes on Chunqiu Zuozhuan, were revised, prefaced and recommended for publication by his teacher Gu Jiegang.
Anecdotes of characters
Born prodigy
Mr. Gu Jiegang once commented on Tong Shuye as follows: "Professor Pisheng (Tong Shuye) is not only knowledgeable, but also has amazing memory and ability of understanding and analysis. The important ancient books of pre Qin Dynasty, including the book of history, can be recited like a stream. A certain word in these ancient books has appeared several times, and he can tell you immediately without looking it up. If he has read the academic works of modern people once, he can cite their main contents and arguments... " It is well known that Tong Shuye's ability to read by sight is well-known. Many people have tested it. He can read a page of Shangshu at will and read a sentence at will. Then he can recite it immediately.
When he was in his forties, he could recite Engels's the origin of private ownership of the family and the state, which was amazing. Once president Huagang gave a report on the history of social development for all the teachers and students of the school. During the discussion after the meeting, the teachers argued about the details of the report, and their opinions were different. So they asked Tong Shuye to judge. He will be Huagang president's report a complete retelling down. When the teachers and students of the medical college asked to listen to the report, the school asked Tong Shuye to convey it. It is said that not only did he not miss a word, but also he coughed when President Huagang said something. His memory was so strong that it was amazing. At that time, there were several ballads, which can be seen as follows: "waist acid anticline, thin skin, long night study until day. Why torture yourself? We are determined to catch up with Professor Tong in ten years. "
The spirit of three stricts
Tong Shuye once said that he had a spirit of three stricts.
1、 Be strict with promises. Never make a promise easily. Once a promise is made, it must be fulfilled. No exception or individual case is allowed;
2、 Strict reading plan and punctuality. The work of the day should be done in the same day, rain or shine, day or night, and it should never be delayed to the next day. Tong Shuye will never be late or leave early in class or meeting.
3、 Tong Shuye strictly abides by the class time and puts an end to the phenomenon of class pressure. Tong Shuye never brings notes, handouts and other things in class. They are all free handed, improvised, logical and orderly. What's more strange is that whenever he finishes a large paragraph and announces the end of the class, the bell will ring at the same time or within a minute or two. The accuracy of the time is amazing.
Can do this, on the one hand, because Tong Shuye has amazing memory, so he is familiar with the grasp of teaching content. But the main reason is that he prepared lessons very hard and seriously. According to Professor Han Lianqi, a few days before class, Tong Shuye should not only write high-level lecture notes, but also, like an artist's rehearsal in the evening before class, speak to the clock and watch according to the lecture notes once in advance, so as to accurately grasp the teaching progress, rhythm and the period limit that can be set for each class, and avoid the phenomenon of tightening before and loosening after, loosening before and tightening after, and even pressing the class. It can be seen that children's book industry's lesson preparation has been rigorous to the point where no mistake can be made.
As we all know, Tong Shuye has the talent to read aloud, but he never depends on his talent and memory. Because he could tell a lot of historical materials casually, he didn't check the books in the process of writing, but after he finished writing, he always checked the citations and notes again. Even when his works were revised or reprinted, he always checked and proofread them again, so as to avoid the spread of fallacies. This rigorous, serious and responsible attitude ran through the whole academic career of Tong Shuye.
Wide range
Tong Shuye's academic scope is very wide, such as Chinese history, ancient geography, Chinese historical stages, ancient oriental history, Chinese handicraft business history, pre Qin scholars' thoughts, Chinese painting history, porcelain and so on. It consists of 14 monographs and 129 papers. This is not only a reflection of Mr. Wang's strong academic vitality, but also his extraordinary insight.
In 1945, Yang Kuan, who worked in Shanghai Museum, hired Tong as the director of History Department of Shanghai Museum. However, the museum work is not the strength of Tong Shuye. During this period, Tong Shuye used the advantages of frequent contact with ancient paintings and porcelain in the museum to conduct in-depth research on ancient paintings and porcelain, and gradually found some vague places in the history of painting and porcelain. With his profound ancient cultural background, he made careful textual research and put some incorrect ideas into practice He corrected the traditional saying of "the north and South Division of Chinese landscape painting" and wrote some works highly praised by professionals, such as "the new research on the north and South Division of Chinese landscape painting", "the research on the picture of flowers without bones", "the collection of paintings in the Tang and Song Dynasties", "the collection of the history of Chinese porcelain" and so on.
Analysis ability
Tong Shuye has an amazing ability of understanding and analysis. He can find problems in some details that ordinary people turn a blind eye to, and quickly sort out the clues and draw his own conclusions. This talent can be proved in a small matter. During the Anti Japanese War, Tong's life encountered many difficulties, so he studied the price in his spare time. He found that the price fluctuation was mainly affected by several main goods, and adjusted with the rise and fall of the prices of these goods. So he drew a curve of price fluctuation. When the local businessman heard about this, he asked his husband for advice on when, where and what goods to buy. He gave advice one by one, and it was not easy. It can be seen from this that Mr. Wang's insight and analytical ability is amazing.
Amazing memory
Academically, Tong Shuye has an amazing memory, but in real life, he often can't remember other people's names and forgets the way home. When Tong Shuye was in Qingdao, he sometimes went out to see a play at night, but he often couldn't tell the way. One night I got lost from the theater and only got directions from the nearby police station. The police didn't believe that the slovenly and thin man was a professor of Shandong University, so they called the duty room of Shandong University, and finally the school sent a car to pick him up. Another night, Tong Shuye broke into the dormitory, pointed to himself and said, "my name is Tong Shuye. I'm the deputy director of the history department. I can't find my way home. Who can send me back?" At last, sun Daren, a history student, respectfully sent him back to his home.
Children's book industry in the classroom can be extremely accurate grasp of time, but in other occasions, but often completely forget the time. Once upon a time, when Tong Shuye was reading in the school library, he completely forgot the time to get off work. When he finished reading, it was more than an hour after work. When people found that there was a thin old man shouting at the window of the library's stack room, they didn't know what was going on, so they gathered around to watch and inquire, which made a lot of noise.
comment
There are so many anecdotes about children's book industry. As for his actions, Mr. Huang Miantang once explained: "people think that this is due to neuroticism. Although it is not unreasonable, I personally think that the more essential reason is that children's book industry's excessive investment and special expertise in the academic field, forgetting everything, thus reappearing the lost and confused attitude described by Han Yu." For Tong Shuye, reading and writing is an extremely important part of his life, even everything in his life. He has devoted all his efforts to learning, so he has no time for it
