Xie Guan
Xie Guan (1880-1950), a native of Wujin, Jiangsu Province, was an old man named Chengzhai in his later years.
Life of the characters
Xie Guan inherited his family's studies. In his early years, he read all the geography books in his family, and was familiar with Neijing, Nanjing, Shanghan Lun, synopsis of the golden chamber, and the classics and prescriptions of Materia Medica. He studied at Soochow University and made friends with Ma Peizhi, a famous doctor in Suzhou. In 1905, he went to Guangdong University of law and politics to teach geography for three years. After returning to Shanghai, he became the president of Chengzhong school.
President of Shanghai Shenzhou University of traditional Chinese Medicine
in the sixth year of the Republic of China, Xie was appointed as the president and teacher of Shanghai Special School of traditional Chinese medicine by Ding Ganren. Ding Jiwan, Qin Bowei, Zhang zanchen, Zhang CiGong, Cheng menxue and Huang Wendong are all famous TCM practitioners in Shanghai. He was president of Shanghai Shenzhou University of traditional Chinese medicine in 1949. Later, because of the suspension of the war, medical practitioners from all sides continued to seek advice. Xie Nai set up a workshop to give lectures, which lasted for several years. In the 18th year of the Republic of China, the Chinese medicine circle twice protested against the government's abolishment of traditional Chinese medicine. Xie was the representative of the petition delegation (the first time as the head of the petition delegation). Since then, he has been elected chairman of TCM Congress or chairman of medical League Supervision Committee for many times. After the establishment of the central Chinese Medical Museum and Shanghai Branch, he served as the executive director and managing director. He was appointed as a member of the examination committee for the implementation of traditional Chinese medicine examination in Shanghai.

After 24 years of the Republic of China, Xie devoted himself to writing and studying Huang Lao's theory of medicine. The textbooks compiled in Shanghai Special School of traditional Chinese medicine were adopted by Chinese medicine schools all over the country. On the origin and development of Chinese medicine is the representative work of his medical thought. It expounds the relationship between the evolution of TCM academic thought and the change of medicine, evaluates various schools and schools, and is a good work in modern medical history. In 1922, he resigned from the commercial press and set up a clinic in Shanghai. He was good at internal medicine, external medicine, gynaecology and pediatrics.
