His father Ji Gongquan was the director of the Department of justice and education of Shanxi Province, and his brother Ji Chaozhu was the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations. He joined the Communist Party in 1927. After studying in the United States, he received a doctor's degree from Columbia University. After returning to China, he was ordered to lead the economic work. His planned fiat money and gold coupons led to the economic failure of the KMT ruled area. In 1948, he came to Beiping as the director of the Economic Department of the "North China suppression general" and discussed with Fu Zuoyi several times for a peaceful solution to the problem of Beiping. On August 8, 1963, Ji Chaoding, who was preparing to visit Algeria, fainted in his office due to a sudden cerebral hemorrhage. He died at noon the next day.

In 1919, he took part in the patriotic movement of the May 4th movement of Beijing students and was arrested in the propaganda of the 6th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. He participated in the organization of the student autonomy Association, served as a member of the appraisal department, established the society of truth, published Tsinghua popular weekly, and organized the work study group. He graduated in the autumn of 1924 and went to the United States to study history at the University of Chicago. On the eve of his visit to the United States in 1924, Ji Chaoding paid a special visit to Li Dazhao at Peking University. In 1926, he took part in the anti imperialist and patriotic activities of students studying in the United States and overseas Chinese responding to the May 30th Movement in Shanghai. He was elected as the chairman and accountant of the international student union of the University. In the winter of the same year, he was elected as the president of the Chinese Students Association in Chicago, supporting Sun Yat Sen's three major policies and the northern expedition of Kuomintang communist cooperation. in 1927, he went to Europe to attend the World Congress of the great alliance against imperialism and colonialism. He joined the Communist Party of China after being introduced by the delegation of the Communist Party of China. Soon he participated in the organization of the China Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the United States, and served as a member and "pioneer". In 1928, he was sent back to China to take part in the struggle. He met Zhou Enlai through Moscow and changed to study at Sun Yat sen University in Moscow. Before long, he joined the CPC's six major delegations of the Communist International and then transferred to the Secretary and translation of China's red collar international representative Deng Zhongxia. In 1929, he was sent to the United States to work for the workers' daily of the Communist Party of America and the China Bureau of the Communist Party of America, and founded China today and American Asia magazine. At the same time, he continued to study economics, wrote the monograph "basic economic zones in Chinese history and the development of water conservancy", and obtained a doctor's degree in economics from Columbia University. Since then, he has been employed as a lecturer in American universities and engaged in research work in the Pacific Institute. Ji Chaoding got to know cofran from the Monetary Research Office of the US Treasury Department, and he joined the US Communist Party. He also introduced Ji Chaoding to economists in the U.S. Treasury Department, including Curie, Roosevelt's assistant, and Brad, morgenthauer's assistant. Scholars take their opinions as the basis of their China policy, and these predictions and opinions on China issue come from Yan'an. Ji Chaoding's doctoral thesis in economics, basic economic zones in Chinese history and the development of water conservancy, has brought him a reputation. Needham praised the book. Chen Guangfu was the chairman of the Trade Committee of the national government's headquarters with the rank of lieutenant general. According to Chen Guangfu's story to his friends, Edel, an official of the US Treasury Department, introduced Ji Chaoding to him. Edel began to work for the American Communist Party in 1935. Ji Chaoding won the trust of Chen Guangfu and served as the director of the general affairs department. After the outbreak of the Anti Japanese war in 1937, he returned to China in 1938 as a representative of students studying in the United States. He returned to China in 1941 and was sent to the national government by the Communist Party of China to engage in economic work. He has successively served as Secretary General of the stabilization foundation, director of the national government's foreign exchange management committee, director of the Economic Research Department of the central bank, and professor of St. John's University and Business School of Jinan University. After the victory of the Anti Japanese War, he served as the director of the Audit Department of the central bank and went to Shanghai to receive Japanese and puppet financial institutions. Taking advantage of his legal status and frequent access to important Kuomintang figures, he provided a lot of important economic information for the CPC Central Committee, purchased medical equipment for the liberated areas, and covered the work of many underground party members. After returning to China, Ji Chaoding gradually separated from Chen Guangfu and began to approach Kong Xiangxi. Ji Chaoding and Kong Xiangxi were both from Shanxi, and his father was a teacher of Kong Xiangxi. After returning to Chongqing, Ji Chaoding lived in Kong Xiangxi's residence. He also lives with Edel, who has served as economic counsellor of the U.S. embassy. They often play cards with Mrs. Kong. Liao xunzhen said that Ji Chaoding told him that he had obtained information through the US embassy during the day and reported it at night. In 1944, Kong Xiangxi appointed Ji Chaoding as the director of the foreign exchange management committee of the Central Bank of China. Because of the close relationship between legal currency and foreign exchange, Ji Chaoding, who led the core Department of foreign exchange, began to have an important say in the monetary policy of the national government. Kong Xiangxi and Song Ziwen, who later became the premier, trusted Ji. Both Kong and song hoped to be very capable, but as a result, they hoped to do financial design work for the Communist Party. He gave advice specially for Confucius and Song Dynasty, which was harmful to the country and the government's credit. Ji Chaoding took part in the reform of golden yuan certificate. Chen Lifu blamed Ji Chaoding for the failure of the national government to control inflation during the civil war. In 1948, he came to Beiping as the director of the Economic Department of the "North China suppression general" and discussed with Fu Zuoyi several times about the peaceful settlement of the Beiping issue. Since the founding of the people's Republic of China, he has successively served as vice chairman of the China Council for the promotion of international trade, vice chairman of the people's Bank of China, vice president of the China Latin American Friendship Association, etc. he founded and presided over the Research Office of the Council for the promotion of international trade. He has led foreign trade delegation to visit Western Europe and held exhibitions for many times, and is known as "China's most capable economist". He died of illness in Beijing on August 9, 1963.
Three links for cadres
Ji Chaoding is indeed a rare "three links" cadre of the Communist Party. Because he is: English, the United States, the Kuomintang.
English pass
When Ji Chaoding was studying in Tsinghua University, he laid the foundation of English writing and speaking. In the United States, he often made speeches in English at mass meetings and argued with people in English. He worked in the workers' daily for ten years and wrote many articles in English. This shows that he has a good command of English. After liberation, he was appointed as a member of the "Mao Xuan English Translation Committee" to participate in the review and finalization of Mao Xuan's English translation. The chairman of Mao's English Translation Committee is Comrade Xu Yongmin, an old comrade in arms who worked with his American classmates at Tsinghua University. Other members include Jin Yuelin, Qian Zhongshu, Wang Zuoliang, Zheng Ruzhen, Tang Mingzhao, Pu shouchang, Zhang Hanfu, and some foreign experts, such as Israel Epstein, Solomon Adler, Frank Coe, and Zhang Hanfu Michael Shapiro et al. The foreign experts of the English Translation Committee all admire Dr. Ji's English level. Epstein praised him as "proficient in both languages". Sidney littenberg said that Ji Chaoding was the best at choosing words; he tried to make the translation smooth, vivid and persuasive.
American link
Ji Chaoding has been in the United States for 17 years. He studied in University, worked as a teacher in middle school and staff school, participated in many mass activities, and often delivered inspiring speeches in English at meetings. He has extensive relations in American political, economic and academic circles. Therefore, I have a good understanding of the political, economic and social situation of the United States.
KMT communication
In the Kuomintang, Ji Chaoding was Kong Xiangxi's confidant. He had many acquaintances and friends in the political and economic academic circles, such as Song Ziwen, Weng Wenhao, Hu Shi, Jiang Tingyi, Chen Guangfu, Bei Zuyi, Xi Demao and so on. He had close contacts with many dignitaries. He is a person with whom our party has made deep and extensive contacts within the Kuomintang. In addition, he held many important positions in the Kuomintang government. Of course, he was very clear about the inside story of the Kuomintang government and all aspects of society.
economic espionage
His advice to the Nationalist government was very simple: to fight for interests with the people. Until 46 years after his death, his true contribution to the founding of this country remains a mystery to most people.
With Zhou Enlai
On August 13, 1963, Ji Chaoding, vice chairman of the China Council for the promotion of international trade and a vice ministerial cadre, held a memorial service at Beijing Capital Theater. Zhou Enlai, Chen Yi, Li Xiannian, Kang Sheng, Guo Moruo and Liao Chengzhi delivered a eulogy. This specification is obviously out of practice. Zhou Enlai was the only superior of jichaoding before 1949. Liao xunzhen said, "only Zhou Enlai really understood the role of jichaoding."
With Chen Lifu
In his memoirs entitled "lessons from success and failure", Chen Lifu, a veteran of the Kuomintang, wrote a special section about Ji Chaoding, which is called "the success of Ji Chaoding's plot to harm the country." In this 500 page book, the only one that has opened up chapters for the Communists is this.
Secret identity
At the end of 1939, Chen Guangfu, head of China global import and Export Corporation, interviewed a 36 year old candidate at a Chinese restaurant in New York. Global corporation is a state-owned enterprise set up by the Kuomintang government to promote Sino US trade, while Chen Guangfu is the chairman of the Trade Committee of the national government's headquarters with the rank of lieutenant general. the candidate, Ji Chaoding, is now in the United States
