Life of the characters
Early experience
Li chongmao was born in the first year of yanzai (695). He is the fourth son of Li Xian, the emperor of Tang Dynasty. His mother is unknown. It is speculated that he is a humble palace man. In the third year of the holy calendar (700 years), he was granted the title of king of Beihai. In the first year of Shenlong (705), he was granted the title of King Wen.
Succeeding to the throne
In June of the fourth year of Jinglong (710), Tang Zhongzong Li Xian was poisoned by Empress Wei. Empress Wei made 16-year-old Li chongmao emperor and changed his name to "Tang Long", which was named by Empress Wei. Less than a month after Li chongmao ascended the throne, Li Longji, king of Linzi, and Princess Taiping jointly launched the "Tang Long coup", killing empress Wei, Princess Anle, Shangguan Waner and other political women in power.
The king of Zen
After the coup, Li chongmao and his uncle, Li Dan, went up to the castle and said, "empress Wei's peeping artifact has been killed. Don't panic." In order to appease the people, it was ordered to exempt half of the taxes of the whole city. But at that time, politically sensitive people felt wrong. Why did the emperor caress the people and the prime minister follow? A few days later, under the instigation of Princess Taiping, Li chongmao issued an imperial edict to pass the throne to his uncle Li Dan. Li Dan refused because he did nothing in the coup and his identity was embarrassing. In the coup, everyone took turns to persuade Li Dan, and Li Dan agreed to be emperor. On Jiachen day, Li chongmao was held by Princess Taiping and went to court. Because Zhongzong Lixian had just died and was still in the period of national mourning, the emperor's throne was in the East, facing the East and the West. To the west is the Zi palace of Zhongzong Li Xian, and beside it stands Li Dan, the prime minister. The leader of the ministers is Princess Taiping. As soon as Princess Taiping saw all the officials in their places, she said, "the country is in a state of unrest. The emperor wants to pass on the throne of Li Dan in order to stabilize the country." Liu youqiu, the great counselor of the Tang Long coup, also took out the imperial edict written long ago and read it. Li chongmao knew that his throne was hard to protect, but he didn't expect to come so soon. He was so stupid at that time. In this way, an embarrassing situation was formed. After the imperial edict was read out, the new emperor was waiting to take over. Li chongmao was not moved. Princess Taiping immediately came to the throne in three or two steps and said to him, "people have turned to the prime minister. Child, this position is not yours! " He took hold of the collar and threw it aside. He went to the coffin and took Li Dan's hand to the throne. He went down to lead the officials to shout long live. In this way, Li chongmao was abandoned as emperor and was re granted the title of King Wen. In the second year of Jingyun (711), he was renamed King Xiang.
Demoted to death
Soon after Li chongmao was deposed as emperor, Li Chongfu, the elder brother King Qiao, thought that he was the oldest son of Zhongzong and should be the emperor. So he passed an imperial edict to Luoyang and announced that he was the emperor and changed the Yuan Dynasty to "Zhongyuan conquering". He also arranged work for the current emperor and the deposed emperor -- Li Dan, the prime minister, was granted the title of "Uncle Huangji", and Li chongmao, the young emperor, was granted the title of "brother Huangtai". But in a few days, without the command of the central government, the left behind officials in Luoyang defeated Li Chongfu's rebellion, and Li Chongfu died. Li chongmao was also implicated in the rebellion of his brother Li Chongfu. He was demoted to a place. A year later, he died in Liangzhou, where he was stationed. He was 20 years old and was buried in Xiyuan. It is recorded in the old book of the Tang Dynasty, Volume 7, Volume 7, Volume 5, Volume 5, and Zizhitongjian, Chapter 25 of the Tang Dynasty.

Anecdotes and allusions
Li chongmao is the fourth son of Li Xian. Zizhitongjian states that he ascended to the throne in June of the fourth year of Jinglong (June 7, 710) at the age of 16. This is consistent with the record in the biography of Liang Wang Yu in the old book of Tang Dynasty that although Wang chongmao was sixteen or seventeen years old, he was also in the middle. According to the calculation, he was born in the first year of yanzai (694) and died in the second year of Kaiyuan (714), when he was 20 years old. In the biography of Shangdi in the old book of Tang Dynasty, it is said that he died at the age of 17. it is impossible to find out who Li chongmao's biological mother is now. When Li Longji attacked empress Wei, she should still be alive, but she has no influence. From the point of view of chongmao's idiocy in dealing with political affairs, she did not provide a good education for her children and knew nothing about current affairs and politics. She should be just an ordinary palace lady, probably a folk woman accepted by Zhongzong in Fangzhou. Lu, chongmao's concubine, was not surnamed at that time. There should be no doubt that chongmao came from a humble family.
