He died in Lanzhou on June 30 at the age of 82.
In 1929, he joined the guerrillas in Weibei Soviet Area and served as the monitor of the guerrillas in Weibei Soviet area. In 1932, he joined the Red Army and successively served as commander of the Red Army company, political commissar of the 26th corps, inspector of the military department of Northern Shaanxi Province, commander of the Yulin guerrilla headquarters in Dingbian, commander in chief of the guerrilla forces in Xiuyan County and commander of the independent battalion, commander of the command of the eastern Shaanxi division, and head of the 1st Red Army regiment. In January 1937, he studied in the Anti Japanese military and Political University. During the Anti Japanese War, he successively served as commander of the security command of Shenfu District in Northern Shaanxi, chief of staff of the security command of Shaanxi Gansu Ningxia border region, deputy chief of the 3rd Brigade of the police, deputy chief of the 385th brigade of the 129th division of the Eighth Route Army, and chief of the 3rd Brigade of the police. From 1943 to 1945, he studied in the Central Party school and attended the 7th CPC National Congress. During the war of liberation, he successively served as commander of Longdong garrison, commander of 3 brigades of 4 columns of Northwest Field Army, political commissar of independent division 2 of Northwest military region, acting commander of Northern Shaanxi military region, and commander and political commissar of independent division 1. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, he successively served as the first deputy commander and deputy political commissar of Ningxia military region, deputy secretary of Ningxia provincial Party committee, the first deputy commander and deputy political commissar of Ningxia military region, deputy secretary of Ningxia provincial Party committee and political commissar of Ningxia military region. In October 1958, he was appointed member of the Standing Committee of Gansu Provincial Committee and vice governor of Gansu Province. He was a member of the Standing Committee of the Party committee of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in January 1978, deputy secretary of the district Party committee in June 1979 and Secretary of the district Party committee in June 1980. In May 1983, he served as chairman of the 5th CPPCC Gansu Provincial Committee and director of Gansu Provincial Committee of CPPCC in December. Deputy to the 7th CPC National Congress, member of the 13th CPC Central Committee, and deputy to the 14th CPC National Congress. He died in Lanzhou in 1998 at the age of 82.
