Lai Chengying
Lai Chengying is a cinematographer, director and native of Dali, Taichung County. Her masterpieces include "duck raising family", "stars gathering", "autumn duel" and "dumb girl love".
Working history
Born in 1931, he is from Dali, Taichung County. Graduated from the Provincial Taichung No.1 Middle School in 1950, he was introduced by president Jin Shurong to practice photography in agricultural education company. After agricultural education was reorganized into China film, he remained as a photographer, shooting many documentaries and feature films. In 1952, he took part in the film shooting for the first time, and served as the assistant of photographer Zhuang Guojun for "everyone is happy" (directed by Tang Shaohua). Since then, he has successively served as the assistant of photography for films such as "so it is", "grass in the army", "Branch Road" and "beacon fire beauty", shooting documentaries and traveling to the countryside. In 1955, Huang zhuohan came to Taiwan from Hong Kong to film Mountain girl (directed by Mo Kangshi). He was recommended as a photographer because Zhuang Guojun, the former photographer, was hospitalized for surgery due to stomach disease. In 1956, he worked as a photographer in Yiwen's a trip to Guanshan, and used the background projector for the first time. In 1958, he filmed Taiwan's first black-and-white wide screen film "long wind and thousands of miles" (directed by Wang Fangshu). In the same year, he was escorted to Japan's Daying company by American aid to study color photography. Daying appointed benjian Chenggan, a color expert, as the instructor. In addition to watching the shooting of the color film "Snow" directed by Kenji shimajima, he also studied color film development and visited the special effects photography Institute in Tokyo The blue background special effects photography of master Hideki Yuangu, and the production process of Dongying company's cartoon films. In 1959, he returned to Taiwan to shoot "the devil's cave slain" (directed by yuan congmei), and won the best black-and-white photography Award for excellent Mandarin film awarded by the information bureau of that year; in 1960, he won the best black-and-white photography Award for excellent Mandarin film awarded by the information bureau for "sound and appearance robbery". In 1963, he started a long-term cooperative relationship with director Li Xing for shooting "streets and Alleys". He won the Golden Horse Award for best cinematography for "duck raising family", "star gathering" and "autumn duel" for three times, and the 13th Asian Film Festival for best cinematography for "dumb girl love". In 1973, he left China film as a director of free photography, but most of the films were made by popular film company, such as "seagull flying place", "sea rhyme" and "blue cloud sky" directed by Li Xing. In 1975, he began to be a director, first as "peach blossom girl fighting Duke Zhou", with a good box office, and then directed "the old man under the moon"; his last film as a photographer was "the changing sun" (director Xie Xian) Performance). So far, there are more than 60 cinematographic works. In 1983, he served as the director of the New York branch of Shihua TV. In 1985, he returned to Taiwan and served as the deputy general manager of the s film and television company, in charge of the advertising production department. In 1993, he left the company. He is a senior director and director of photography. He was the director of Photography Association and Directors Association, and now he is a freelance.
