Wang Shuchen
Wang Shuchen (September 1931 - November 1991), born in Dandong City, Liaoning Province, is an animation director, screenwriter, art designer and special effects Engineer in mainland China. He graduated from Anton provincial engineering vocational school.
In 1950, he was the animator of the short animated film "thank you Kitty", and began his exploration in the field of animation. In 1954, he, together with he Yumen and Anping, directed the short animated film "boasting frog", which was the beginning of his work as a director. In 1958, he independently directed his first animated short film "crossing the monkey mountain", which is the first animated film in China to use pre recorded production. In 1964, the animated short film "new things on the road" directed by him was released. In 1973, he co directed the animated short film trumpeter with Yan Dingxian, which won the prize of the 2nd Zagreb International Film Festival in Yugoslavia. In 1979, he directed China's first wide screen animated film Nezha naohai, which won the excellent film award of the Ministry of culture of China and the best art film award of the third popular film Hundred Flowers Award. In 1982, his cartoon "the return of the Buddhist scriptures" won the best work award of China comic exhibition. In 1988, he directed the animated short film "single wooden bridge". Directed the cartoon monkey in 1990.
In November 1991, Wang Shuchen died at the age of 60. In 1992, the animated short film "open shop" was released. In 2006, Wang Shuchen's collection of paintings was published.
Early experience
In 1947, Wang Shuchen graduated from Anton provincial engineering vocational middle school and became a teacher. In 1948, he entered the Art Department of the school of literature and art of Northeast University. In 1949, he transferred to the Fine Arts Department of Lu Xun Literature and art college in Northeast China, and in October, he was transferred to the fine arts group of northeast film studio, thus starting his art film creation career. Later, he moved to Shanghai with the Northeast film and art group, and worked as animation and action design, art design and director in the art group of Shanghai Film Studio and Shanghai animation studio.

In 1981, he was the animator of the animated short film "throwing censer". in 1982, his cartoon drawing of the return of the Buddhist scriptures won the excellent work award of China comic exhibition. In 1983, he and Qian Yunda co directed the short animated film "Tales of the book of heaven", which was adapted from some chapters of the novel "biography of the flat demon". In 1984, he was the judge of the Golden Rooster Award for Chinese films. In 1985, he was the judge of the Hiroshima Animation Film Festival in Japan; in the same year, he was the screenwriter of the animation short film "net"; later, he was the recorder of the drama film "Legend of embroidered women". in 1987, he was a judge of the French Annecy Animation Film Festival; in the same year, he was the director of the short animated film beauty pageant; later, he was the screenwriter of the short animated film tiger's teeth, which was directed by Pu Jiaxiang. In 1988, he directed the animation short film "Du Mu Qiao"; in the same year, he was the screenwriter of the animation short film "landscape love", which was jointly directed by Tewei and Ma kexuan.
