Playing Professor Li Zhenyuan (Liya's father) in Panda Man (2009)
The story of time (1982)
Many famous Taiwanese actors have been to Pingfeng and Li Guoxiu to learn from their teachers. For example, Fang Wenshan (best lyricist of Taiwan Golden Melody Award), Wang Renfu (member of Taiwan idol group 5566) participated in the performance of "Liuyi Gang" in 2008; Guo Ziqian (member of the national Troupe) and Zeng Guocheng (famous TV host in Taiwan). In 2007, he met with Beijing to perform "samlet"; in 1996, he cooperated with Yi Nengjing to perform "never met".
In the early 1980s, Li Guoxiu and actor Li Liqun jointly talked about cross talk that night, which caused a huge sensation in Taiwan, and the story of cross talk became a household name. Then in 1986, they started a screen performance class. From the beginning, the crew members raised the production cost from their own pocket, to 32 consecutive performances of "can three people do it?" which opened the way of screen experimental drama creation. Li Guoxiu, who is also a screenwriter, director and actor, has been insisting on the original script for 24 years. He is known as "Moliere" in Taiwan by playing 22 roles in the drama "marriage notice"; he plays a veteran in his original drama "going out of the Yangguan in the west", which is even more astonished by public opinion as "Li Guoxiu's performance closest to Chaplin's height".
"Daughter red", based on her mother, shocked the hearts of all audiences when it premiered in 2003. Li Guoxiu's mother moved from the mainland to Taiwan during the war. She was homesick all day and suffered from severe depression. She never left home. Young Li Guoxiu once felt shame for such a mother. He avoided talking about his mother, so that his classmates thought he had no mother. Until he reached middle age and saw all kinds of life, Li Guoxiu began to feel sympathy and guilt for his mother. He realized that after a turbulent life, there must be an uncontrollable storm in her heart, and then she would be entangled with depression all her life. Therefore, he picked up a pen and wrote a story about a woman who was wandering in the changing times by means of a mother's wedding dress. The story spans 70 years. From the simplicity of Laiyang, Shandong Province, the war and migration in the 1930s, the artillery fire of the civil war, the Chinese shopping mall in Taipei City in the 1960s and the modern Hakka village in Taiwan, Li Guoxiu uses history to find his mother's perseverance, kindness, loyalty, frustration and pain in his life. He uses daughter red to complete his memory and respect for his mother.
Li Guoxiu's "going out of Yangguan in the west" is also the result of his life in other provinces. Veterans from other provinces in Taiwan have gradually been marginalized by society, and their lives and feelings are seldom paid attention to. Li Guoxiu has created a "going out of Yangguan in the west" for them. It describes the bitter life of several veterans who like to stay in the red envelope field (singing Hall), their dreams and disillusionment, and shows the deepest sadness of this crowd. Every performance audience will burst into tears.
