Wan Chaochen

Wanchaochen (1906.10-1992.10). Nanjing people. He is one of the pioneers of early Chinese art films and one of the four famous brothers of ten thousand families. Born in Nanjing. Influenced by his brother, he loved painting since childhood. At the age of 17, he was admitted to the Department of Western painting of Nanjing art school. Later, he studied decorative painting in Shanghai Oriental Art School. In 1953, he served as a technical director in the production of China's first color puppet film little hero. From 1957 to 1959, Director Ren's puppet films smart goat and Dragon carving won the "puppet Film Award" at Bucharest International Film Festival and silver award at Bucharest puppet film and Puppet Festival respectively. He joined the Communist Party of China in 1959 and served as deputy director of Shanghai Art Film Studio.

He returned to China in 1948 and joined Shanghai Film Studio in 1949. In 1953, the puppet film "little hero" was successfully produced in Shanghai Film Group. Later, he served as a technical director in the color puppet films "magic pen" and "Flame Mountain". He joined the Communist Party of China in 1959. Once designed and manufactured a lifting equipment for animation film shooting. Since 1962, he has been the technical deputy director of Shanghai Art Film Studio. He has successively served as advertising film artist of Film Department of Shanghai Commercial Press and deputy director of Shanghai Art Film Studio. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, he served as director, deputy chief technician, deputy director and consultant of Shanghai art film studio, and the fourth director of China Film Association. The director's puppet films include smart goat and so on. "Dragon carving" won the silver award of the second International Puppet Film Festival in Bucharest, Romania in 1960.
