Tong Yuejuan
Tong Yuejuan (from August 7, 1914 to January 6, 2003), her real name is wan Xiuying. Tong Yuejuan is her stage name, and another name is Liang Ruiying. Born in Hangzhou, China, she was an actress of Beijing opera, drama and film in Shanghai in the 1930s. Later, she engaged in film production and immigrated to Hong Kong to continue her film related career. In 1973, she entered the political circle and became the first public opinion representative with performing arts background in Taiwan in the early 1980s. She died in Shanghai in 2003 and was later buried in Taipei at the age of 89.
Profile
Tong Yuejuan, formerly known as Wan Xiuying, is from Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. At first, he studied Peking Opera and later became an actor. In 1929, she left Hangzhou and went to Shanghai for development. After receiving drama training, she took part in Pingju performance and soon turned to drama performance and behind the scenes production. In 1931, he produced and performed the new play "do not love rivers and mountains, love beautiful people", which was well received and attracted the attention of Shanghai performing arts circles. Also because of the play, she stepped into the Shanghai film world and acted as an actress. Together with Li Lihua, Bai Guang and Ruan Lingyu, she was one of the few film actresses in Shanghai in the 1930s and 1940s.
In 1933, he married Zhang Shankun and starred in Xinhua's pioneering work the legend of red sheep. In 1934, with the help of Tong Yuejuan, Zhang Shankun organized Shanghai Xinhua film company. During the period of Shanghai Xinhua Film Co., Ltd., Tong Yuejuan and Zhang Shankun produced many films, including the adaptation of Pingju opera, such as the story of red sheep hero. Patriotic films such as "New Peach Blossom Fan", "top gun", "Youth March", "Thunderstorm" and some commercial films such as "tiger king snatches his bride" and "Li hen Tian".
In 1937, the Anti Japanese war broke out. Forced by the reality, Zhang Shankun and Tong Yuejuan, who retired to the second tier of Shanghai Xinhua film company, still led Zhou Manhua, Li Lihua, Chen yunshang, Chen JUANJUAN and other well-known movie stars to participate in various "East Asia common prosperity" activities under the Japanese military or Wang Jingwei regime. Even so, Tong Yuejuan still took part in the Kuomintang's "Anti Japanese" underground organization in Shanghai under the pseudonym of "Liang Ruiying" during World War II.
After 1942, he took part in the shooting of "fraternity", "the second generation" and "home" in "Zhonglian" and "Huaying". In 1946, because of the civil war between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, Tong Yuejuan and Zhang Shankun went to Hong Kong to continue their development and settled in Hong Kong. In 1947, Tong Yuejuan and her husband successively participated in or reorganized Hong Kong Yonghua film, Xinhua film and great wall film. Among them, Xinhua in Hong Kong was the predecessor of Xinhua media which was still quite well-known in the 2000s. In the early 1950s, the film company formed by the two people produced commercial films such as "slut heart", "blood Begonia red", "moon shining on Kyushu", "Qionglou hate", "four swordsmen of Wang family" and "a generation of enchantress". She not only co ordinates and supervises the production of these blockbusters, but also occasionally guest stars and guides them.
In 1957, after Zhang Shankun died, Tong Yuejuan returned and took over Xinhua film in Hong Kong. Ten years later, Tong Yuejuan's Xinhua still produced many well-known films, such as blind love (Li Lihua, Luo Wei and Zhong Qing), the nineteen heroes of Qingcheng (Xiao Fangfang), black button and blue blood yellow flower. Among them, blue blood and yellow flower, which describes the "Huanghuagang incident" organized by the KMT's early alliance, was often broadcast on Taiwan's Radio TV even in the late 1980s. Also because of her production achievements, she won the "special production Award" in the Golden Horse Award of Taiwan film in 1969. In 1973, he was elected chairman of Hong Kong and Kowloon film and drama freedom Association, and later served as a member of Taiwan Overseas Chinese Affairs Committee.
In 1994, at the 31st Golden Horse Awards, Tong Yuejuan won the "Lifetime Achievement Award" in recognition of her film contributions to Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taiwan and other places.
In 1993, after resigning as chairman of the Hong Kong and Kowloon free film and Drama Association, Tong Yuejuan immigrated to Canada. Because of her political ideas, Tong has always refused to return to Shanghai, Hangzhou or visit her relatives in private. Because of her old age, she had to return to Shanghai from Canada to receive the care of her relatives and friends in Shanghai. Shortly after that, he died of heart disease in Shanghai Bo'ai hospital on January 6, 2003. He was 89 years old.

Tong Yuejuan was buried with her husband Zhang Shankun in the free area of Taiwan. After holding memorial meetings in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Canada, she was buried in the original Zhang Shankun cemetery in Yangmingshan, Northern Taiwan by her family and friends in the film industry. The cemetery was designed and planned by her 20 years ago.
