Qin Chuan, formerly known as Gou kekuan and named Zhongshu, was born in Chishui, Guizhou Province and former president of people's daily.
Life of the characters
He studied in Guizhou Provincial No.2 Middle School (now Chishui No.1 Middle School).
In 1936, he joined the left wing League of Peking and edited the art of Duroc. In May of the same year, he joined the Communist Youth League of China and transferred to the Communist Party of China. He once edited the literary supplement of Northwest culture daily.
In 1937, he successively studied in Yan'an Anti Japanese university and the Central Party school. Later, he served as section chief of Shaanxi Gansu Ningxia Border Region Committee, Secretary of Cultural Work Committee and section chief of Propaganda Department of Northwest Bureau of CPC Central Committee, and Secretary of Mizhi County Party committee.
In March 1947, he served as a member of the propaganda committee of the front Committee of the Northwest Field Army. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, he successively served as secretary of the Party committee of Northwest Agricultural College, Secretary General of the Propaganda Department of the Northwest Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, director of the information bureau of the northwest military and political Commission, and director of the Propaganda Department of the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee.
After 1964, he served as director and Deputy Secretary General of the Propaganda Department of the Political Department of industry and transportation of the CPC Central Committee.
After 1973, he served as secretary of the Party committee of Beijing University of technology.
From November 1977 to March 1982, he served as deputy leader and vice president of the core group of people's daily.
In April 1982, he served as the general manager of people's daily.
From November 1983 to December 1985, he served as the president of people's daily. He once served as the chairman of international cultural publishing company and the third vice president of all China Journalists Association. He is a member of the 12th CPC Central Committee, member of the Standing Committee of the Seventh National People's Congress, member of the internal affairs and justice committee, and was once the first vice chairman of the National Association for records.
He died in Beijing on January 29, 2003 at the age of 83.
