Liu Mingyuan
Liu Mingyuan (1931-1996), a performer of Banhu and Zhonghu. Hebei Boye people. He is the soloist of Beijing Film Orchestra, the chief soloist and leader of Min band, the deputy director of Instrumental Music Department of China Conservatory of music, and the fourth director of China Music Association. Member of Jiusan Society.
Liu Mingyuan is one of the most outstanding national instrumentalists in China for nearly half a century. He enjoys the reputation of "the master of Chinese bow and string music" in China and the international music world. He is proficient in all kinds of huqin instruments, especially Banhu and Zhonghu. Since the 1950s, Liu Mingyuan has been committed to promoting the cultivation of music talents. Since 1982, he has been a professor in the Department of instrumental music of China Conservatory of music, and trained nearly 400 folk music talents. His students are all over various Chinese music organizations and colleges at home and abroad. He holds important positions such as chief, performer and Professor, among which Zhou Qichang, an ruli, Wang Yiqin, Ding Lufeng, Shen Liliang and song Guo Sheng, Huang Anyuan, Su min, Jiang Jianhua, Liu Jihong, Song Fei, Zhang zunlian, Liang Lingling, Shen Cheng and other famous musicians are all disciples of Mr. Liu. Because of his special contribution, Liu Mingyuan is known as "another master of Chinese folk music after Liu Tianhua and a Bing".

Life of the characters
Mr. Liu Mingyuan was born in Hongqiao District of Tianjin on May 28, 1931. His father is a doctor and loves folk music and drama. He can play huqin well. Liu Mingyuan was influenced by his father when he was young. At the age of five, he began to learn to play Banhu and Jinghu with his father. As a child, Liu Mingyuan was intelligent and eager to learn. Under the strict guidance of his father, he began to perform in China Grand Theater in Tianjin at the age of seven. At the age of eleven, he participated in the performances of some national music clubs in Tianjin (such as "bailing Orchestra" and "Fujian Guangdong guild hall"). By listening to the performance of Fuguang people, he mastered a lot of Guangdong music. He began his artistic career at the age of 15. Skilled, artistic style, wine off and delicate. Created, adapted and played Banhu songs such as "carriage galloping in the field", "Qinqiang brand song" and "daqiban", which are vivid and exciting.
In 1945, Liu Mingyuan went to Tianjin Yucai Middle School and joined the school's National Orchestra, playing Gaohu, Yangqin and other musical instruments. He often participates in performances of schools, national music education concept and non-governmental organizations. In 1952, he went to Tianjin Pingju troupe to work on creating tunes, orchestration, erhu and Banhu performances. In November of the same year, Liu Mingyuan and several other folk music masters participated in the music recording of "Longxugou" at the invitation of guoyuezu, the orchestra of music division of Beijing Film Studio, and received good evaluation. The studio decided to keep Liu Mingyuan and other seven people in the troupe. Since then, Mr. Liu Mingyuan has become one of the first batch of professional folk music workers of the new China National Film Orchestra, and devoted himself to promoting the performance, creation and reform of Chinese folk musical instruments. He actively carried out the reform of musical instruments, and made outstanding contributions to the same system and timbre improvement of Banhu, erhu, Gaohu and zhonghutong in China. In particular, Banhu and Zhonghu, two musical instruments that have been accompanied by drama bands, have been on the solo stage. He played daqiban and daguanmei with high pitched Banhu, Qinqiang paiqu and Hongjun brother back with medium pitched Banhu, Zhonghu solo on grassland and herdsmen back, erhu solo Henan Xiaoqu, etc., which were warmly welcomed by audiences at home and abroad, and many people became professional with his piano sound He is determined to fight for the national cause all his life.
Mr. Liu Mingyuan has been engaged in film work from 1952 to 1982. In 1953, the orchestra of the Central News Film Studio (the predecessor of the Chinese Film Orchestra) established the first professional national band in China, and Mr. Liu Mingyuan was the chief of the band. He has served as vice captain and captain of the band. Over the past 30 years, he has participated in the recording of the film music of thousands of newsreels, feature films, science and education films, such as great land reform, blessing, Lin family shop, red flag score, tunnel battle, fighting against the ancient city in the spring of wildfire, Mei Lanfang stage art, and served as the leader and soloist of multi-ethnic bowstring instruments. As early as the 1950s and 1960s, he often played for Chairman Mao, Premier Zhou and other older generation of state leaders, and was deeply loved by them. In the 1960s, under the initiative of Premier Zhou Enlai, he composed, adapted and played a large number of folk music, such as "Malan blossom", "happy year", "shepherdess", "jubilant" and so on.
Honorary achievements
In 1957, as a representative of Chinese young artists, Mr. Liu Mingyuan participated in the sixth World Youth Festival folk instrument performance competition and won the gold medal. He has visited dozens of countries. His national orchestral music, such as "happy year" and "happy ocean", has been popular all over the country and spread to Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas. His name has been listed in many music books at home and abroad. Due to his outstanding contribution, he was the first to enjoy special allowance from the government.
He inherited and developed the traditional performing art of Banhu, developed the high pitched Banhu and the middle pitched Banhu, adapted and played the Zhonghu song "on the grassland", which made Zhonghu appear on the stage as a solo instrument, created the national instrumental music such as "joy in the ocean" and "the return of the herdsmen", and cultivated a number of rising stars for various places. He is the soloist of Beijing Film Orchestra and the chief of National Orchestra.
