Gao Shaoqing
Gao Shaoqing, born in 1967 in Wuwei City, Gansu Province, is an erhu player.
He was the first musician to introduce jazz, rock music, environment music, Middle East music, Indian music, South American music and country music to erhu music, and really promoted erhu to "World Music". His music inspired the new trend of Chinese music, new folk music. Works include "autumn rhyme", "Chinese changxiangqu" and so on.

1984: with a group of musicians from Shanghai, China, including famous pianist Li Mingqiang and violinist Yu Lina, he visited Canada and performed as an erhu solo. In the same year, he won a special award from Shanghai Conservatory of music.
1985: won the first prize of Beijing National erhu competition and the two best performance awards of optional repertoire and designated repertoire, and the "Music Performing Art Award" issued by Shanghai Federation of literary artists. In the same year, with excellent results, he was granted special permission to be promoted to Shanghai Conservatory of music for bachelor's degree.
1986: won the second prize of Jiangnan Silk and bamboo performance at home and abroad; began to study in the same year

1988: performed in the United States with a group of Shanghai folk musicians in China; participated in the fundraising performance for Chinese nursing and care homes in most cities sponsored by American Canadian Chinese radio in Toronto; graduated from Shanghai Conservatory of music one year in advance with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in the same year; and was invited to work as a soloist in the Central National Orchestra; after arriving in Beijing, organized the "red maple leaf" rock band and the "snowman" ”Pop band.
1989: participated in the World Youth Festival hosted by North Korea and won the certificate of Arts Diploma.
1991: admitted to the Royal Conservatory of music in Toronto, Canada and began to study

Innerpulse was founded in the same year;
1992: major performances in Toronto included erhu solo in the "hometown love" Folk Song Collection organized by Toronto artists, erhu solo and keyboard performance at the 1992 spring festival gala held by the University of Toronto, and erhu performance for Esprit Symphony fund-raising party.
1993: he was employed by the Royal Conservatory of music of Toronto as the first teacher of Chinese national musical instruments in history, which made erhu teaching a formal professional course. In the same year, he held the first erhu concert and made great achievements.
1994: invited to cooperate with Esprit Symphony Orchestra of Toronto for the second concert.
1995: he was invited to perform Erhu Concerto with Mississauga Symphony Orchestra and hold a joint concert with Russian pianists.
Main works
Composition
He has composed music for many Canadian films, television, advertisements and Broadway musicals. He has also worked as a producer for many musicians and artists. Among them are the films "landing" and "yellow wedding", and the advertisements include those of Air Canada, which won the Golden Award for advertising music. He collaborated with American composer Brian Keane, who has won more than 20 Grammy Awards and titles in the United States, and wrote a three episode documentary film entitled "becoming American the Chinese experience" for PBS.
