In the 1990s, Lin Shanshan became the backstage and worked for a record company. In 1995, he became the marketing director of BMG record company, and began to be the manager of Zheng Yijian. Later, he became the managing director of BMA records, managing a number of its artists. Form a band with Teresa called "Teresa and Lin Shanshan".

Lin Shanshan's uncle is film actor Dilong, and her younger brothers Lin Haifeng and Lin Xiaofeng are also DJs and presenters. Lin Haifeng's wife is Peng Ling, the queen of Hong Kong in the 1990s.

In 1987, Lin Shanshan gave up her acting career and went to San Francisco to marry Li Qigan, a former Hong Kong Swimming representative who was studying at Berkeley University in California.
