Wang Fandi
Wang Fandi, born in Shanghai. Wang Fandi, a famous Chinese Pipa artist and educator, was born in Zhenhai, Zhejiang Province. He once studied with Pipa experts Ma Linsheng, Li Tingsong and Chen Yonglu. He is currently a professor of China Conservatory of music, President of Beijing Chinese Traditional Music Association and director of China International Cultural Exchange Center.
He is a senior Chinese Pipa musician, educator, theorist, Professor of China Conservatory of music, director of China International Cultural Exchange Center, founder and early president of Beijing Chinese Traditional Music Association. At 10:54 a.m. on December 8, 2017, due to invalid treatment, he died at the age of 84.
personal works
In his teaching, he developed interdisciplinary research, published the basic theory of Pipa performance technology and teaching, several problems of Pipa right hand training, the relationship between Pipa right hand movement form and sound quality, research on Pipa teaching language, etc. Some papers have been translated into Japanese by Japanese scholars and published in Japanese Pipa journals. In 1991, he went to Japan for a comparative study of Chinese Pipa and Japanese Samo Pipa at the invitation of Japan International Exchange Fund. His teaching and research achievements have a wide influence at home and abroad.
Wang Fandi's performance is simple, sincere, deep and implicit, and pays attention to verve. For traditional music of different times and regions, he has a good command of style, emotion and charm. His performance can not only maintain the unique advantages of previous artistic creation, but also innovate and develop with the development of the times. Therefore, he is unique in many Pipa arts. He has composed Pipa solos such as spring of Tianshan Mountain, send me a rose, Capriccio of the Red Detachment of women, spring dawn of Lancang, and recorded traditional Pipa solo music albums and cassette tapes. In 1988, Wang Fandi's Pipa solo album was recorded at the invitation of Formosa record publishing house.
Personal life
Since the 1960s, he has been engaged in professional teaching and theoretical research of pipa. He has trained hundreds of Pipa players and teachers, and many students have become performers and teaching backbones. He is the tutor who trained the first master of Lute in China. He is often invited to give lectures in music and art colleges all over the country.
Art evaluation
Professor Wang Fandi has a deep research on Chinese multi-ethnic musical instruments. In his rich artistic activities, he integrated performance, teaching and theoretical research. On the basis of inheriting the tradition, he made contributions to the performance of Pipa art and the teaching and research of creation.
