Since 2007, when I was a graduate student in the History Department of Peking University, I have compiled Youtian weekly. Each issue is made into a PDF file and presented to my friends. The content is personal diary and current affairs review, which is quite praised by readers.
Popular words in related works
"Popular words" is not an official publication, but more similar to Hu Youtian's exercise book, which is compiled into a PDF document and sent to all those who are willing to read it for free. However, it is not scribbled, but rigorous and meticulous, with its own style. This is the first issue of its catalogue:
Preface
My history

Cartoon: the signature of the model
On the definition of "Chinese"
On the periodization of Chinese pop songs
Materials: a brief introduction to related works on Chinese songs (1)
[narration] the visit of Goddess Kaka
Comments on Chen Sheng's "come and go to Xiamen diantoumao"
Comments on Liang Bailong's Foxconn II
[essay] populism, local wish and bianbi, shanrou, biansying
In the first issue, there is Hu Youtian's resume:
Born in Taipei, he graduated from the History Department of Taiwan University and the History Department of Peking University (Master's degree in modern Chinese History). In 2017, he is a doctoral candidate in the Chinese Department of Hong Kong Baptist University. His tutor is Professor Zhu Yaowei, who is one of the few scholars studying lyrics.
Therefore, "popular CI Hua" is "an independent publication discussing the lyrics of Chinese pop songs and related history and culture in the past 100 years". Its purpose is to "promote my research, publish creation, contact teachers and friends, and record life".
It asks the following questions:
——What are the advantages of those recognized classic songs, important works and excellent lyrics?
——What ideas and techniques did the predecessors have that later generations have lost or forgotten? How can we learn it back?
——Why do pop songs, which once carried the voice of the times and influenced many audiences, become less and less influential in the Internet age, and there are fewer and fewer works that can move people?
——There are also new ideas, techniques and masterpieces in the popular and independent creation of the past decade. What are their advantages and disadvantages?
"It seems that these problems are easy. As long as you have lived in the local area, anyone can give some opinions and examples. However, it is not easy to explore it in depth and try to sort out the useful handouts instead of just complaining. In particular, the answers to these questions depend on subjective feelings. You may not agree with what I say, and I may not agree with what you say. When we ask what people think and what things are, we may not be right. In this regard, we need a more objective, can be used as a consensus benchmark, and then gradually to accumulate discussion.
The magazine will be sent to any netizen who is willing to subscribe for free. It will also be sent to people in the music, cultural and press circles. You are welcome to participate in the grand event, forward it in many ways, and submit contributions. As long as the purpose of the magazine is roughly consistent, the theme and style are not limited (comics and pictures are also OK). There is no fee for contributions, but the author reserves the copyright. You can use the pure text file to let us help you, or directly give the doc, PDF or picture file to let us "clip" in. It doesn't matter if the version and specification are different from ours. "
