About Lhasa Nangma:
Applicant: Lhasa City, Tibet Autonomous Region
Lhasa Nangma is a kind of indoor song and dance performance deeply loved by Tibetan people. It originated in Ali Region of Tibet and spread in Lhasa, Shigatse, Gyangze and other regions of Tibet Autonomous Region, with a history of more than 1000 years. Lhasa Nangma dance beautiful, simple singing, to praise all things in nature as the main content, while the performance of the gods of piety and yearning for good love.
The structure of Nangma in Lhasa is divided into two parts: "falling board", "existing board" and "jueharmo" and "Allegro". In the performance, the slow board is performed first, and this part of the dance is rare, mainly playing the piano and singing. When the dancer calls "Lesi" in unison or the leader calls "Lesi" alone, the dance will turn to Allegro stage. The dancer will sing and dance while the time is determined by the lyrics, and the word will end with the dance. Nangma's lyrics are rich in content, with many themes, such as praising primitive religion, praising hometown, talking about love and yearning for a better future.
The dance performers of Nangma in Lhasa are mainly women, and most men are accompanied by musical instruments. During the performance, the band sat cross legged on one side, and the dancers stood in the position, each with a board under his feet. Due to the constraints of performance occasions and objects, Nangma basically dances in situ, and the board under the actor's feet will make a "dada dada" rhythmic sound during the performance. The whole Nangma performance gives people a feeling of free flight. The dance includes basic footwork and gestures such as "step back and forward", "two steps and two stamping", "leg lifting step", "continuous step", "back and forth swing", "salute hand", among which the most distinctive action is "continuous step" followed by "double hand waving". At the climax of the performance, the top Bowl Dance appeared, and the actors performed the bowl full of highland barley wine on their heads.
Nangma is one of the integrated art forms of song, dance and music in Tibet, which has developed to a higher level. The instrumental part of it is highly independent and can be played alone. Nangma music has a long history, unique style, complete structure and strong contrast. It is a wonderful flower in Tibetan folk music. Up to now, Nangma still plays an important role in the local people's cultural life and modern professional art creation and performance activities, with special value. At present, with the changes of the times, there is no inheritance of Nangma in Lhasa, which is in urgent need of rescue and protection.
