Yangko (Xiaohongmen Yangko) Introduction:

Xiaohongmen "Di Yangko" is a traditional yangko dance popular in Xiaohongmen District, Chaoyang District, Beijing. It is called "Taiping Tongle Yangko Festival". On a flag that has been kept up to now, there is the word "Taiping Tongle Yangko holy meeting of Hongsi village outside zuo'anmen gate started in the second year of Qianlong". The Yangko will have strict rules, customs and etiquette. Most of the people in the meeting lived in Manchu, and they were all composed of men.

Xiaohongmendi Yangko is mainly performed in festivals and various festive activities. The Yangko team consists of 21 people: playing tuotou, xiaoerge, Wenfan, WuFan, yuweng and woodcutter, 4 playing gongs and drums, 1 playing trumpets (gongs), 2 flag bearers and 2 playing strategies (longhuang). The performance of local Yangko is mainly dance, supplemented by singing.

In the past, the association often performed for large-scale celebrations and sacrificial activities, such as the "sacrificial granary" activity held in Hongsi village on the 25th day of the first lunar month to pray for God's blessing for the harvest of crops. After the ceremony, the "tiancang" (meaning to harvest more grain, not to leave the granary empty) performed the ground Yangge. At present, the association only continues the festival celebration activities, but does not continue the sacrificial activities.

In the past, the Yangko performance in Xiaohongmen was a combination of singing and dancing. At present, there are very few people who can sing, and they don't sing any more during the performance. There are still a large number of Yangko lyrics in the Yangko Festival, but they are on the verge of being lost because of no score. According to the old artist, there were 64 sets of Yangko performance routines in xiaohongmendi, and only 22 of them remain.
