Jianger is a Mongolian heroic epic, which is mainly spread in the Mongolian inhabited areas of Altai Mountain in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China. Most scholars believe that jianger was first produced in China's weilat Mongols. With the migration of weilat Mongols in the 17th century, it also spread among the Mongols in Russia and Mongolia, and became a cross-border epic.
The emergence and development of jianger is a long process. It is mainly spread in the form of oral transmission, as well as transcripts and printed copies. This epic describes the story of 12 lion generals headed by jiangger and thousands of warriors fighting against evil forces and finally winning in order to protect baomuba's hometown. It deeply reflects the life ideal and aesthetic pursuit of the Mongolian people and has high artistic value.
"Jianger" is still sung among Mongolian people. Since the 1980s, China began to collect and record the work of jianger on a large scale. So far, many versions of jianger have been published at home and abroad, which has had a wide influence.
With the increasing trend of globalization and the rapid changes of economy and society, the survival, protection and development of jianger also encounter new situations and problems, which are very serious. Some of the famous folk artists have passed away, and the living ones have reached the age of old. They are facing the danger of "death and singing". Therefore, we must pay close attention to the rescue and protection of the inheritors and materials of jianger in order to make this valuable epic sing in the world.
