Brief introduction of shadow play (Beijing shadow play)
Applicant: Xuanwu District, Beijing
In the early stage, Beijing shadow play was divided into two schools: the East and the West. The East died out very early, while the West was formed in the Zhengde period of Ming Dynasty. In 1842, Luther Cheng, a Manchu, inherited the western style shadow play art in Beijing and established the Xiangshun shadow play troupe in Beijing. Since then, the western style shadow puppets have been passed down in the Lu family. Lu Fuyuan, the son of Luther Cheng, established the Fushun film troupe, and Lu Yaofeng, the son of Lu Fuyuan, established the Deshun film troupe. Lu Jingda, the son of Lu Yaofeng, has been passed on for four generations, and it has been more than 100 years.
Beijing shadow play has a long period of formation, unique performance techniques, performance, voice, shape and other aspects are different from other areas of shadow play artistic characteristics. It absorbs the tunes of northern Kunqu Opera, Peking Opera, quyi, etc. it has its own style. The performance is exquisite and exaggerated. It has some unique artistic techniques, such as shadow people looking in the mirror, tears, dressing and so on.
With the retirement and death of the older generation of artists, there is no successor in Beijing shadow play. After 1979, Beijing shadow play troupe, the main inheritor of Beijing shadow play, did not have its own site for a long time, and also lacked fixed performance venues. It had been operating in debt for a long time, and the income of performers was low, so it was extremely difficult to survive. In this situation, Beijing shadow play gradually fell into a critical situation, lack of inheritance, and gradually faded out of the audience's vision, which needs the relevant departments to formulate measures to protect.
