Uyghur medicine attaches great importance to dietotherapy which is directly related to human health, and pays attention to the relationship between eating time and nutritional components.
Uyghur medicine divides food into five categories according to the nutritional composition of the food people eat. According to the nutritional composition of food and cold, neutral, hot, in life three meals a day reasonable diet. The main food of Uighur is wheat and rice. Vegetables are mainly carrots, onions, Chinese cabbage, and so on, which continue to grow in the four seasons.
The combination of delicious food and nutrition in dietotherapy has formed the unique dietetic culture of Uygur people. "Pilaf" is a favorite diet of Uygur people, and also a representative of dietotherapy. It is a kind of food that integrates rice, mutton, carrot, onion, vegetable oil and other seasonings. It has the characteristics of color, fragrance, taste and complete nutrition. It is a food therapy product with high nutritional value. "Qiamagu" is a good Uyghur medicine to protect the lung and strengthen the body. It has been used for a long time in the diet of the people. It is a top tonic food for all ages, especially for the elderly.
Xinjiang is known as the "hometown of melons and fruits", with all kinds of seasonal melons and fruits constantly growing in the four seasons. Natural fruits and melons are important resources for Uygur dietotherapy. Among many melons and fruits, Uygur people prefer melon, fig, grape, apricot, walnut, mulberry and so on. Uighur people not only like to eat melons and fruits, but also regard them as health tonics.
