Introduction to Dongxiao music (Gaoling Dongxiao)
Applicant: Gaoling County, Shaanxi Province
Gaoling's art of Dong Xiao is based on the inheritance of folk traditional pipe playing skills. During the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, through the continuous innovation of Hu Xue Zhong and Hu Daoman's two generation of entertainers, he created the unique technique of Dong Xiao, which was absorbed by some of the essence of sister art, such as Qin opera, melody and Guan Zhong Taoism.
Gaoling Dongxiao skill birthplace, is located in the hinterland of Guanzhong, Gaoling County, south of Weihe Gengzhen village. Gaoling Dongxiao art takes "two tone singing, throat sound, palate sound, tremolo, glide sound, beat sound" as the main performance skills. "Two tone singing" blowing method is to skillfully combine the colorful singing sound of Qin opera with the skill of Qi and fingers of Xiao blowing, and then inject it into the pipe to make the low voice of Dongxiao suddenly amplify, such as the thick and loud suona, forming the hope sound of many Dongxiao ensemble, just like the bold and rough sound of Bangdi and Banhu, which has a strong penetrating and shocking force; "throat sound" is just the beginning of blowing At the same time, the throat sounds at the same time, "roar" sings a melody, and forms a harmony with the Xiao, giving people a feeling of singing while blowing, which is particularly powerful. Hu daoman changed the traditional Xiao art from low, desolate and long to bright, bright and joyful. His Xiao music is graceful, long, mellow, powerful, mellow and beautiful.
