Introduction to Huaer (Lianhuashan Huaer Club)

Huaer is a kind of folk song which is widely spread in Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia and Xinjiang. It is a kind of folk song which can only be sung outside the village. It is generally called "Yequ" (as opposed to "Jiaqu" (banquet song) and also called "juvenile". Its singing is divided into two main occasions: daily production, life and "Huaer meeting". "Huaer Festival" is a large Folk Song Festival, also known as "singing mountain".

Lianhua Mountain is located in the southwest of Kangle County, Gansu Province. Huaer Festival is an annual Folk Song Festival spontaneously organized by the masses in Lianhua Mountain area, radiating 78 venues in three prefectures and six counties. Such folk songs flourished as early as 300 years ago. In the 1960s and 1970s, Huaer singing was banned. After the reform and opening up, there was a prosperous scene again.

Lianhuashan Flower Fair has a unique form, large scale and complete procedures. It is divided into the process of blocking the road, touring the mountain, singing to each other, toasting and saying goodbye. The main venue from the first to the sixth day of the sixth lunar month lasts for six days. It has gone through tangfangtan, Shangshan, Xiashan, zuguchuan, wangjiagoumen, zisongshan and other places, with more than 100000 people attending.

Huaer in Lianhua Mountain is mainly handed down by oral and psychological teaching. The representative singers are Jing Mantang, Ding Rulan, Zhang Shengcai, Zhu shuxiu, MI Zhaoren, Wang Lianlian, etc.

Lianhuashan flower, commonly known as "wild flower", is characterized by the improvisation of creation, the fixity of rhythm and the Nativity of language. The representative songs include Lianhuashan Ling, etc. Because of its unique characteristics, folk custom, dependence, procedure, group, entertainment and popularity, it is praised as "the soul of northwest" and "the Encyclopedia of northwest" by scholars at home and abroad. However, in recent years, the scale of Hua'er club has gradually shrunk, the number of Hua'er singers has dropped sharply, the inheritance is broken, and there is no successor, so it is urgent to rescue.
