Yuxian County, located in the northwest of Hebei Province, is famous for its paper cutting. Yuxian paper-cut, also known as "window flower", is a traditional decorative art of the local people. It has a history of more than 200 years. The initial patterns are mostly auspicious patterns like flowers. Later, it integrates the artistic characteristics of Tianjin Yangliu youth painting and Wuqiang New Year Painting, forming its own unique style. After Liu laobu and other paper-cut artists jointly studied and reformed their creative tools, some patterns were cut in batches instead of single cuts, which improved the paper-cut technology of Yuxian County. At the beginning of the 20th century, driven by artists such as Wang Laoshang, Wang Shouye and Zhou Yongming, the style of Yuxian paper-cut became more and more prominent. It went out of the general pattern of folk paper-cut and had a deeper humanistic connotation.
