Brief introduction of Horqin Chaoer epic:
Applicant: Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region
Horqin Chaoer epic is popular in Tongliao City and Xing'an League in the east of Inner Mongolia. It is a local traditional form of Mongolian epic. Accompanied by bowstring instruments, Horqin chao'er's epic is performed by a special epic artist, chao'er Qi, in the form of self pulling and self singing. It tells the story of God coming down from the earth to become Khan and hero, fighting against the evil Python Gusi, defending his hometown and peace. Epic music tunes have their own system, a total of nine sets of more than 20 kinds, which can be freely changed in the performance. There are dozens of Horqin Chaoer epic repertoire, among which "Eighteen mang Gusin uliger" is a large series of epics, which is composed of eighteen relatively independent but interrelated epics, with considerable scale.
Horqin Chaoer epic has important data value for the study of Mongolian culture and art, national history and national psychology, and it is also an important carrier for inheriting the excellent spiritual and cultural tradition of Mongolian ancestors. With the change of social culture, the art of epic tends to decline. For a time, Horqin Chaoer's epic has lost its living inheritance. In 2005, it was found that there are still inheritors, with more than 20 pieces, which is of great significance to the protection, inheritance and research of Mongolian epic. It is urgent to rescue Horqin Chaoer epic, which needs further measures from all walks of life.
