Introduction to 18 kinds of martial arts:
Applicant: Yuhang District, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province
Eighteen kinds of martial arts is a traditional sport integrating fitness, self-defense, competition and appreciation. It is said that the Wuchang and eighteen kinds of martial arts were created by Hongzhong, the Minister of Ming Dynasty, after he returned home. It evolved from the eighteen kinds of ancient weapon training methods and has been handed down for nearly 500 years.
Wuchang's 18 kinds of martial arts combine sword, stick, fist and array, and integrate the boxing and mechanical exercises with the characteristics of Xixi (Wuchang) in Hangzhou, with obvious characteristics of Xixi water town. Its array is various, and its routines are rich, including group sword meeting, Sun Moon array, Wulian array, Weiwu array, Vajra umbrella array, big split lock array, jade hand pen claw array, Dawu rake array, big drill and so on.
The characteristics of Wuchang's 18 kinds of martial arts are: all weapons are made of hardwood instead of real swords and guns. Most of these wooden weapons are transformed from Wuchang's rural production and living tools, such as dragon phoenix sword, Fang Tianji, jade hand pen claw, Yin Yang boring, golden melon hammer, jujube counter mallet, Wenwu rake, dragon fish axe, big split lock, King Kong umbrella, etc. Therefore, the purpose of training is not for actual combat, but to inherit the martial arts culture. The Wuchang and eighteen kinds of martial arts are rich in the characteristics of water town. The protection of Wuchang and eighteen kinds of martial arts is of great value to the study of the development history of Chinese folk sports and the dissemination of traditional martial arts culture.
