Temple Fair (huogong Temple Fair)
Applicant: Changsha City, Hunan Province
Temple fair, also known as "Temple market", is a kind of folk belief activities held regularly in and around temples, which is popular all over the country. Some large temple fairs had a considerable scale in the Tang Dynasty, and they are still handed down and have a wide influence. All kinds of temple fairs have their own time, most of them are a traditional Lunar Festival or a religious and folk belief day. Temple Fair has the characteristics of concentration, group and fixation. During the temple fair, all kinds of folk activities and technical trade activities can be fully displayed in public, and the activities are rich and colorful. The God greeting competition is also a form of temple fair. In Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, traditional temple fairs, which are popular among believers, are all introduced from the mainland and have a close relationship with the mother. In the overseas Chinese residential areas, many temple fairs brought from the motherland are full of incense, inheriting the cultural blood of the Chinese nation in a special way.
The palace of fire is located in the north of Pozi street, an ancient city in Changsha, Hunan Province. According to the general annals of Hunan, there are more than 100 temples of fire in Hunan Province in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties. With the change of history, many temples of God of fire have disappeared. Only the temple of fire in Changsha palace has been preserved so far, which has become an important place for the inheritance of traditional folk custom of God of fire worship.
Offering sacrifices to the God of fire is an important part of the temple fair of the palace of fire. In history, there are two kinds of sacrifices in the spring and Autumn period. After the sacrificial ceremony, Hunan opera was performed for three days, and "Mu Lian saves his mother" is a must play. During the temple fair, people's cultural activities, such as performing social drama, juggling and singing Changsha Tanci, are rich and colorful. Huogong temple fair is famous for its unique snacks, which has become a highlight of the temple fair. Today, a time-honored Chinese restaurant named after huogong palace inherits the food culture of huogong temple fair and plays a very important role in the local and even national catering industry.
Since 2001, in order to restore the original appearance of the fire palace, the relevant departments of Changsha have invested more than 35 million yuan to rebuild the ancient archway, rebuild the fire temple, the God of wealth temple and the Guanyin temple, build a new fire culture museum, and successively held more than 60 kinds of fire temple fairs with more than 1 million participants, which has laid a good foundation for the inheritance and development of the fire palace fire temple fair.
