Brief introduction of Yangzhou Tanci
Applicant: Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province
Yangzhou Tanci is mainly popular in Yangzhou City and surrounding areas of Jiangsu Province. Its original name is "Xianci" and "duibaixi". It was formed in the late Ming Dynasty and flourished in the early Qing Dynasty. It has a history of more than 400 years.
Yangzhou Tanci is mainly about expression, supplemented by playing and singing. Originally, one person played three strings and sat singing, so it was called "string words". Later, it developed into a "double stage" for two people to perform together, adding Pipa accompaniment, which is called "duibaixian Ci". The libretto of Yangzhou Tanci is arranged in the book Ci, which has two styles: Endorsement style and narrative style. It is mainly composed of seven character sentences, and the superimposed single sentence is called "Feng nods". Its performance is similar to that of commentary, but the difference is that it pays more attention to the intonation and charm, and pays more attention to the orthography and roundness of words; the second is that the range of demonstration action is smaller, and the emphasis is on the display of facial expression. Yangzhou Tanci mostly uses Yangzhou dialect, and it also uses the foreign "dock dialect" to express the characters' identity and character. During the double stage performance, the two actors simulate the tone and tone of different characters to have a dialogue. The first actor focuses on narration, and the singing is mostly performed by the first actor.
The commonly used tunes in Yangzhou Tanci include suonanzhi, shua'er, Sanqi Lihua, chenshui and nantiao. Most of them are Yuhe and ShangDiao. They are simple, elegant and antique. Accompanied by Sanxian playing skeleton sound, it is easy and simple, while Pipa is rich and varied, and its ups and downs are beautiful, because it has the saying of "Sanxian bone Pipa meat".
Since the late Qing Dynasty, Yangzhou Tanci has formed many singing schools, such as Zhou school, Kong School and Zhang school. Now only Zhang school is still handed down. The representative books of this school include "shuangjinding", "Pearl Tower", "luojinfan", "Diao Liushi", etc. after more than 100 years of development, their singing skills have become more and more mature. At present, under the double impact of the economic tide and foreign culture, Yangzhou Tanci is hard to survive and lack of successors, which needs to be protected in order to facilitate its inheritance and development.
