Balinzuoqi shadow play originated in luanzhou, Hebei Province, with a history of more than 200 years. In the practice of shadow play singing, in order to meet the aesthetic needs of the people living together, the artists take the initiative to integrate the local folk art, and Mongolian artists also participate in the ranks of shadow play artists. Zuoqi shadow play is the product of the integration of farming culture and nomadic culture in the Central Plains, and it is also a process of emotional exchange and cultural learning and cognition among different nationalities. In the 1950s and 1960s, shadow play reached its peak. There were more than 40 shadow boxes and more than 200 artists in the whole banner. More than 50 traditional plays were sung, such as "Wufeng meeting", "facility agriculture changing from soil to gold" and "riding a donkey to a well-off life". By the early 1990s, due to various factors, Balinzuoqi shadow play was in an endangered state. The veteran comrades in the educational and cultural circles headed by Shen Fengshan organized the shadow play association, implemented the "four ones" project, carried out a series of rescue protection and excavation, and won the recognition and praise of the people.
