Introduction to Xinyang folk songs:
Applicant: Xinyang City, Henan Province
Xinyang folk songs are widely spread in Xinyang City, Henan Province, mainly in Shangcheng, Huangchuan, Gushi, Xinxian, Guangshan, Luoshan and other counties. As a wonderful flower of Chinese Han folk songs, Xinyang folk songs and Chinese folk songs have the same development history. The original Xinyang folk songs originated from labor life and sacrificial activities. After a long period of development and evolution, they reached maturity and prosperity in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China.
Xinyang folk songs mainly include minor and labor songs, and can be divided into more than ten categories, such as love songs, minor, narrative songs, ritual songs, chants, folk songs, folk songs, folk songs, lantern songs, meeting songs, children's songs, peddler songs, etc. Among them, the minor and love songs are mostly improvised without accompaniment; the lantern songs and meeting songs are often accompanied by orchestral or percussion music, and the commonly used instruments are suona, bamboo flute, Sheng, Banhu, erhu, pipa, Yangqin, Tanggu, cymbals, gongs and gongs; the singing of water songs, tamping songs and other labor songs are mostly supplemented by labor tools and other related instruments. Xinyang folk songs have a wide range of themes, including the social life of the past dynasties, with distinctive style and far-reaching influence. The melody is mainly national pentatonic, with Gong, Shang, Jiao, Zheng and Yu tunes. Some songs also appear biangong, qingjiao and other tones, forming six tone and seven tone modes.
Xinyang is located in the south of Henan Province, in the transition zone of North and South folk songs. This special geographical location makes Xinyang folk songs have the characteristics of both South and north folk songs, so it has the artistic style of combining hardness and softness. These folk songs reflect the social conditions of Xinyang in different periods and show unique historical and cultural research value. At present, the change of social life style leads to the increasingly difficult living environment of folk songs, which leads to the weakening of the entertainment and education functions of folk songs. In addition, a large number of local folk song artists in Xinyang have died one after another, and there is no one to inherit them. The ancient Xinyang folk songs are in danger and need urgent rescue and protection.
