Yangshe town
Yangshe town belongs to Zhangjiagang City, Jiangsu Province. It is located in the hinterland of the Yangtze River Delta. It is the political, economic, cultural and transportation center of Zhangjiagang City. Yangshe town has a long history. It was built in the second year of Taikang in the Western Jin Dynasty. In 2000, yangshe, sigang, Tangshi and Chenghang were merged to form a new yangshe town. The total area of the district and town is 153.09 square kilometers (2017), with a total population of 417369 (2017). It governs 5 sub district offices and 4 urban streets, and manages 69 communities and 29 administrative villages. In 2015, the Gross Regional Product of yangshe town was 75.2 billion yuan.
Yangshe town has successively won the honorary titles of top 100 towns in China, civilized towns in Jiangsu Province, national demonstration towns of new socialist rural construction, and charming towns in China. On October 9, 2018, yangshe town was selected as one of the top 100 towns with comprehensive strength in China in 2018. On October 8, 2019, it was selected as one of the top 1000 towns with comprehensive strength in China in 2019, ranking third.
Historical evolution
Before the Majiabang culture of the Neolithic age, there were human settlements in yangshe area.
During the Xia Dynasty from the 21st century B.C. to the early 17th century B.C., the territory was under the jurisdiction of Yangzhou in the south of the Yangtze River.
At the end of the Shang Dynasty, Taibo and Zhongyong, the sons of the father of gugongyu, the king of the Zhou Dynasty, sent the kingdom to the south to build the ancient kingdom of Gouwu, which was adjacent to the river in the north. In ancient Wu territory, known as "jingman".
In 841 B.C., after King Wu of Zhou destroyed Zhou, Zhou Zhang, the great grandson of Zhongyong, was granted the title of king of Wu, and the territory was the northern part of the state of Wu.
In 473 BC, Yue destroyed Wu, and the territory belonged to Yue. In the 36th year of Xianwang (333 BC), Chu destroyed Yue and became a member of Chu.
In the third year of Emperor Xiaowen of Qin Dynasty (248 BC), King kaolie of Chu moved and granted Prime Minister Huang Xie the title of emperor Chunshen. He lived in the Wu area of Jiangdong (today's Jiangnan) and belonged to Xie fiefdom.
In the 26th year of the first emperor of Qin Dynasty (221 BC), after the Qin Dynasty leveled off Chu, China was unified, and the county system was implemented. The territory belongs to Kuaiji County, bounded by Jiejing River and nangudu port, which is divided into East and West. The East is Wuxian County, the west is Yanling Township, and the territory belongs to Yanling township.
In the fifth year of Gaozu in the Western Han Dynasty (202 BC), Yanling township was changed to piling County, and the land of Yanling was analyzed as Jiyang township. The territory belongs to Jiling Township, piling county.
During the Three Kingdoms period, the territory belonged to Wu state.
In the second year of Taikang (281) of the Western Jin Dynasty, Jiyang County was set up in Jiyang Township, Nansha township (now taking a boat to Fushan of Changshu City) and the north of Wuxi, and the county government was set up in yangshe. The territory belongs to Jiling County, piling county.
In the fifth year of Yongjia (311) of emperor Huai of Jin Dynasty, in order to avoid the taboo of the king of Donghai, piling county was changed to Jinling County, and the territory was changed to Jinling County Jiyang County.
In 540, Changshu county was established in Nansha.
In 556, the first year of Taiping in the northern and Southern Dynasties, the county was divided into Licheng in Lanling and Licheng in the northwest of Jiyang. Jiangyin county and Licheng county were established, and Liangfeng county was established in the hometown of Jiyang. The territory belongs to Liangfeng county.
In 589, Liangfeng county and Licheng county were merged into Jiangyin county. The territory belongs to Jiangyin county.
In the third year of Wude (620), Jiangyin county was set up as Jizhou, and Licheng County, the hometown of Licheng, was subdivided into Licheng county and Jiyang County, the hometown of Liangfeng.
In the ninth year of Wude of Tang Dynasty (626), Jiyang and Licheng were merged into Jiangyin County, which was subordinate to Changzhou. From then on, the territory was bounded by Jinghe River, with Changshu County in the East (Changshu Prefecture in Yuan Dynasty) and Jiangyin County in the West (Jiangyin road and Jiangyin Prefecture in Yuan Dynasty) until the Republic of China.
In the song, yuan and Ming Dynasties, there were 17 townships in the county, and most of them were Bailu Township in Jiangyin county. Only the first and fifth guarantees entered Chongren township.
In the 37th year of Jiajing reign of Ming Dynasty (1558), in order to defend against the invasion of Japanese pirates at sea, Yang She built a castle. In the third year of Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1664), after the land of Qingzhang was reclaimed, towns were set up, which were divided into 36 townships, such as Bailu and Chongren townships in Jiangyin county. This is the beginning of the establishment of yangshe in history, and also the origin of yangshe town.
During the reign of Emperor Guangxu of Qing Dynasty, yangshe town had 9 baos and 2 dunbao, which were located between Bailu and Chongren in the old time.
In 1912, the Republic of China was founded, and the local administration was changed to the two-level system of province and county. In October of the next year, the provincial government issued a municipal and township system to build yangshe Township and withdraw yangshe town.
In 1927, yangshe district was established under the county level. The district office was located in yangshe Town, which was subordinate to Jiangyin county. In March of the 23rd year of the Republic of China, the system of "Lu Lin" was abolished and the system of "Bao Jia" was restored.
Yangshe town was established in 1934, under the jurisdiction of the Fourth District of Jiangyin county.
In February 1941, under the leadership of the general office of chengxiyu of the Communist Party of China, the Anti Japanese democratic governments of yangshe district and yangshe town in Yuxi (Chengdong) County were successively established, which were subordinate to the second office of the administrative Commissioner of Southern Jiangsu.
In 1942, Wang puppet regime established yangshe town.
In 1943, yangshe district was merged with Huashi District, which was called Huayang district.
After the victory of the Anti Japanese War, the national government still set up yangshe town.
In 1946, yangshe town was directly under the jurisdiction of Jiangyin county.
In 1947, yangshe town was designated as the model town of yangshe autonomy in Jiangyin county. When the jurisdiction of the suburbs of Sanyu, Xieqiao and Beicheng three townships.
On April 22, 1949, the territory was liberated. Following the system of the Republic of China, Changshu county is in the East and Jiangyin county is in the West.
After the liberation, the administrative divisions in the territory of the Republic of China temporarily followed the system of District, township, Bao and Jia.
In the early days of the liberation, Jiangyin county was divided into five areas: urban area, east area, south area, west area and Chenyang area.
In October 1949, the Baojia system was abolished and districts, townships (towns), villages and groups were established below the county level. Jiangyin county is divided into seven districts. One town and three townships of yangshe are changed into one town and four townships (a new Chengxi Township composed of the west of Sanyu Township and the south of Xieqiao township is added), which is under the jurisdiction of Huayang district.
In September 1951, Huayang district was divided into Huashi district and yangshe district. Yangshe Town, Sanyu, Chengxi, Beicheng and Xieqiao are under the jurisdiction of yangshe district.
In October 1952, yangshe town was directly under Jiangyin county.
In March 1956, yangshe district was merged into Xieqiao Township, which belongs to Houcheng district; Chonghua township was merged into Chengxi Township, which belongs to Huashi district; Sanyu township was merged into sushi Township, which belongs to Changjing district; yangshe town is directly under Jiangyin County, which belongs to Changjing district.
In September 1957, the district was withdrawn and the township was merged. Taking yangshe as the center, the village is composed of 11 senior agricultural production cooperatives (hereinafter referred to as senior cooperatives) in Xieqiao Township, 7 senior cooperatives in sushi Township, and 4 senior cooperatives in Chengxi township. After that, 22 senior social organizations were gradually reduced to 15 large senior social organizations.
In September 1958, the climax of people's commune was set off, and the integration of Township Community and town community was implemented. On the 24th of the same month, yangshe people's commune was established. The original 15 high-level communes of the whole commune were renamed as production brigade, and were reorganized into seven work areas to implement commune level accounting. At the same time, the town of yangshe was abolished and transferred to yangshe commune.
In September 1961, the Management Committee of yangshe branch was established (the jurisdiction area was the original yangshe town).
On January 1, 1962, 14 communes were set up in Changshu county and 9 communes were set up in Jiangyin county. Shazhou county was established in yangshe town. Yangshe commune belongs to Shazhou county. On February 24 of this year, with the approval of Suzhou, yangshe branch was transferred from yangshe commune to rebuild yangshe town. In March, yangshe town became a town directly under Shazhou county.
On May 20, 1983, the government and the commune were set up separately, and yangshe commune was changed into yangshe township.
On September 16, 1986, Shazhou county was abolished and Zhangjiagang City was established. Yangshe town belongs to Zhangjiagang City. At the same time, yangshe township was merged into yangshe town.
In July 2000, the four towns of yangshe, sigang, Tangshi and Chenghang merged to form a new yangshe town. The people's Government of the town was stationed in yangshe. Set up sigang, Tangshi, Chenghang three sub district offices.

Yangshe commune was established in 1958. In the same year, some production teams were assigned by yangshe commune to build yangshe town. In 1986, the town and township merged and became yangshe town. In 1997, with an area of 35 square kilometers and a population of 97000, it has jurisdiction over 29 neighborhood committees in Chengdong Street 1-12, Chengxi Street 1-13 and Chengbei Street 1-4, and 18 village committees in Chengdong, Chengxi, Chengnan, qianxixiang, Xiaoheba, Wangxi, Zhaozhuang, Cangji, Xiaocheng, Jingdong, Cangji, Daixiang, Fanzhuang, hengheli, Chengbei, Xieqiao, Beizhuang and tianduoli.
On March 12, 2003, the former Donglai neighborhood committee and 14 villages including Qingdong, Qingqiao, Donglai, Shouxing, xizha, Erwei, yongxie, Fuqian, Wusha, Nanqiao, nonglian, Jiangdong, liming and Xufeng were merged into yangshe Town, and Donglai sub district office was established.
On August 26 of the same year, Chenyang neighborhood committee and chennan, Chenzhong, Nanxin, Jinsha, Chenxin, Xinnan and Xiaoxing villages of Chenyang town were merged into yangshe town and Chenyang sub district office was established.
In September 2008, Zhangjiagang municipal Party committee and municipal government adjusted the management system of Zhangjiagang Economic Development Zone and yangshe town in Jiangsu Province: the organizational system of Zhangjiagang Economic Development Zone and yangshe town was retained, the joint office was implemented, and the Party Working Committee and Management Committee of Zhangjiagang Economic Development Zone uniformly led and managed the district and town.
