Jinshan Town is located in the south of Chifeng City and the middle of Kalaqin banner. It is connected with Shijia Manchu Township and Xiqiao Town in the East, Ningcheng County in the south, Wangyefu town and xiaoniuqun town in the West and niujiayingzi town in the north. The mansion was built here and got the name of "Gongye mansion". After liberation, it belongs to the Second District of Kalaqin banner. In the spring of 1948, the United Government of Jianxi County in Kalaqin Right Banner moved from Wangyefu to this place. In 1958, it was changed into gongyefu commune. In 1966, it was renamed Jinshan commune. In 1980, Jinshan commune was transformed into Jinshan Town. In September 2005, Longshan Town, Ma'an goat farm, Qiaotou Wanzi Village (originally belonging to shishijiazi township) and Xinqiu Village (originally belonging to daniqun township) were merged. In October 2019, Jinshan Town governs 8 communities and 25 administrative villages.

Historical evolution
