Guangfu Town, belonging to Wuzhong District, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, is located 28 kilometers west of Suzhou City on the shore of Taihu Lake. It borders on Cangshu town in the East, Xukou town in the south, Taihu Lake in the West and Dongzhu in the north. With a history of more than 2500 years, Guangfu is one of the 13 scenic spots in Taihu Lake scenic spot. It is a historical and cultural town in Jiangsu Province, a beautiful town in China, and one of the birthplaces of Suzhou embroidery.
In 1999, Guangfu town was named as a famous historical and cultural town in Jiangsu Province and listed as a key central town in Jiangsu Province. The total area of the town is 61.56 square kilometers (2017), with seven administrative villages and three community neighborhood committees, and 48458 permanent residents (2017). In January 2019, it will be selected as the seventh batch of famous historical and cultural towns in China. In July 2020, the National Patriotic Health Campaign Committee reconfirmed Guangfu town as a national health township.
History of construction
In the 26th year of the first emperor of Qin Dynasty (221 BC), Wu County was established as the former capital of Wu state in Qin Dynasty. Guangfu has always been under the jurisdiction of Wu County.
During the Yuanfeng period (1078-1085) of the Northern Song Dynasty, DUBAO was set up below the county level, and Guangfu was the capital of Changshan.
In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, there were townships under the county and Changshan township (guangfuli) within the territory. Guangfu town was one of the six famous towns in Wu County.
