Maocun town

Maocun town belongs to Tongshan District of Xuzhou. It is located at the zero kilometer north extension of the Third Ring East Road in Xuzhou, covering an area of 83.24 square kilometers (2017). It has obvious geographical advantages. National Highway 310 and 104 run through the north and south, and also has the entrance of the North Fourth Ring Expressway in Xuzhou. It is connected with Xuzhou Jinshanqiao Economic Development Zone in the south, with a population of 70000 (2017). cultural relics and historic sites

Taishang site (the Neolithic site in Taishang village south of Sanbao town and the cultural relic protection unit in Han county) is 150 meters long from north to south, 120 meters wide from east to west, and covers an area of 15000 square meters. Animal bones, antlers, perforated stone axes, stone chisels, pottery feet of Longshan culture, and rope pattern tiles of Han Dynasty have been found on the surface of the earth. Qiuwan site (southeast of Tanshan village, Maocun Town, new era, Shang and Zhou dynasties) is located on the flat ground between the two mountains. It is about 75 meters long from north to south, 60 meters wide from east to west, covering an area of about 4500 square meters, and the cultural layer is about 2.5 meters thick. It was discovered in 1959 and excavated twice in 1960 and 1965, covering an area of 735 square meters. The connotation of the site includes the remains of Longshan culture and Shang and Zhou culture.

The Longshan culture has a relatively thin accumulation. Some living relics, such as fire pond and bag shaped cave, were found. The unearthed artifacts include sand mixed black pottery feet, grimace shaped tripod, sepia and eggshell black pottery pieces, as well as production tools such as stone axe, sword, clam sickle, bone arrowhead and pottery spinning wheel. The cultural accumulation of Shang Dynasty is about 2 meters thick. The clay grey pottery is the main type of pottery, followed by the sand grey pottery. The coarse rope pattern is the majority of the decoration, and there are additional pile pattern, string pattern and so on.
