Hengxi Street
Hengxi street belongs to Jiangning District of Nanjing City, located in the southwest of Jiangning District, with a total area of 215 square kilometers, 10 communities, 11 villages and a population of 73465 (2010). Hengxi is named after Hengshui bridge in the Chinese classic novel water margin, which was called Hengshui bridge town in ancient times. As early as 2200 years ago, this is the ancient battlefield of the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period. It is an ancient town. The story of Dong Yong and the seven fairies is from here.
Hengxi street has convenient transportation, with Fengyun railway special line, Jiangjun South Road, ningdan Road, etc. which can directly reach the main city of Nanjing; Henglu, Hengtong, Tangtong, Taolu and other highways run through the market town, which can reach Nanjing Lukou International Airport in 10 minutes, and the modern rapid transportation network has begun to take shape.
In March 2006, the original towns of Taowu, Hengxi and Danyang merged into a new Hengxi town. The town government was located in the original Hengxi town. In December 2007, Hengxi town was withdrawn and streets were set up.
Historical evolution
The Western Zhou Dynasty and the spring and Autumn Period belonged to the state of Wu, and the Warring States period belonged to Yue and Chu. in 221 BC, the 26th year of the first emperor of Qin set up Danyang county (now Danyang market town), which belongs to Kuaiji county. The Western Han Dynasty belongs to Danyang county. The Sui Dynasty belonged to Jiangning County, Danyang county. In Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Jiangning County, Jiangning Prefecture. In 1946, there were four towns in Taowu, Xi'an, Hengxi and Danyang. From 1949 to 1957, it belonged to the third district and Taowu District of Jiangning County, with Taowu, Hengxi and xiaodanyang towns and Taodong, Taoxi, Taonan, Xiyang, Hengshan, Yuntai, Xi'an, Shangang and Xinglong towns. In 1958, Taowu commune (merging Taowu town with Taodong, Taoxi and Xiyang townships), Hengxi commune (merging Hengxi town with Hengshan, Yuntai and Xi'an townships), and xiaodanyang commune (merging xiaodanyang town with Shangang and Xinglong townships) were established. In 1982, the commune system was abolished and Taowu Township, Hengxi Township and Danyang Township were set up. In November 1987, Danyang township was set up as a town. In March 1989, Tao Wu set up a town. In 1996, it covers an area of 81.2 square kilometers and has a population of 28000. It governs 15 administrative villages including Taohong, Hangcun, Ganxi, Shangmu, Zhongcun, Dongjing, Minmu, Houcun, Hutou, Xizhang, Xiyang, Longshan, Hongxing, gancun, fuergang and the neighborhood committee of Taowu town. In 1996, Hengxi Township covers an area of 98.7 square kilometers and has a population of 30000. It has jurisdiction over 19 administrative villages including Hengxi, Xitang, Jianglin, Guantang, changchong, Shitang, Hongqi, Yuntai, Henggang, Hongyang, Xintang, Anmin, Dabai, Tiejia, Xucun, Chengcun, Zhaocun, Shangzhuang, Hengshan and the neighborhood committee of Hengxi town. In 1996, Danyang town covers an area of 64 square kilometers and has a population of 25000. It governs 12 administrative villages including Danyang, Shuanghe, Xingfu, Xianyue, Tangcun, caikan, Shanjing, xushang, Xishan, Gaotai, Silong and Changgang, as well as the neighborhood committee of Danyang town. On February 2, 2000, the municipal government approved the abolition of Hengxi Township and the establishment of Hengxi town. At the end of 2000, Taowu town is adjacent to Lukou Town in the East, Lulang town in the west, dongshanqiao town in the north and Hengxi town in the south. It is about 9.75 km long from east to west and 5.5 km wide from north to south, with a total area of 81.2 square kilometers and a total population of 27182, including 2081 non-agricultural people. It has jurisdiction over 1 neighborhood committee, 15 administrative villages and 234 villager groups. At the end of 2000, Hengxi town was adjacent to Lukou Town in the East, Danyang town in the south, Jiangning town and PUTANG town in Ma'anshan City in Anhui Province in the west, and taohao town in the north. It was 0.87 km long from east to west, 2.75 km long from north to south, with a total area of 98.7 square kilometers. It had a total population of 8785 households and 28880 people, including 1659 agricultural households in Central Africa. It had jurisdiction over one neighborhood committee, 19 administrative villages and 260 villager groups. By the end of 2000, Danyang town was adjacent to Hengxi town in the north and Ma'anshan City and Dangtu County in Anhui Province in the East, West and south. It was 10 kilometers long from north to South and 9 kilometers wide from east to west, with a total area of 61 square kilometers. It had a population of 8493 households and 24600 people, including 4690 non-agricultural people. It had jurisdiction over one neighborhood committee, 12 administrative villages and 240 villager groups. In 2002, the three administrative villages of Taodong, Zhongcun and Shangmu (covering an area of about 20 square kilometers) under the jurisdiction of Taowu town were transferred to Airport Industrial Park for management. In 2003, Taowu town governed one community in Taowu town and 11 administrative villages in Taohong, Xinhang, Ganxi, Shangmu, Zhongcun, Taodong, Xiquan, Xiyang, Longshan, Hongxing and gancun. Hengxi street is located in the southwest of Jiangning District, Nanjing, 30 kilometers away from the center of Nanjing. It is adjacent to Lukou street in the East, Guli street and Jiangning street in the west, Jiangning Economic Development Zone in the north and Maanshan City in Anhui Province in the south. As of 2011, Hengxi street has an area of 215 square kilometers and a population of 76800.
