land resource
The rural area is formed by the Yangtze River shockage and the sea water. The age of the soil is relatively short, and it is usually reclaimed and planted as soon as it has been deposited into land. It is the fluvo aquic soil that has been cultivated and matured without the growth stage of meadow vegetation. Due to the different characteristics of occurrence and development process, various types of soil are formed. It can be divided into four types: strong yellow mud, yellow mud, sand mixed with yellow, and sand mixed with sand; yellow mud is mainly distributed in the south, with a small amount of strong yellow mud; sand mixed with yellow is mainly distributed in the north, with a small amount of sand mixed with sand.
Strong yellow mud
The total area is 1029 mu (68.6 HA), accounting for 2.29% of the cultivated land. The soil is one of the worst productive properties. Because of its heavy texture, it looks like a knife when dry and a mess when wet. The soil is sticky and has poor permeability, so it needs to be improved.
Yellow mud
(including sand bottom yellow mud and sand body yellow mud): the soil is widely distributed in Hengsha, covering an area of 19554 mu (1303.6 HA), accounting for 43.54% of the cultivated land. The content of organic matter and available potassium in the soil is high, but only available phosphorus is slightly low. The pore shape is slightly poor, the soil texture is high, the clay content is high, the ability of water and fertilizer conservation is strong, but the tillability is poor, the soil is stiff when dry and muddy when wet. The crops growing in this kind of soil usually don't develop in the early stage, but they have enough stamina.
Sand with yellow
(including yellow sand): it is one of the most widely distributed soil species in Hengsha, with a total area of 22058 mu (1470.5 HA), accounting for 49.12% of cultivated land. The soil is loose, with good tillability and fair water and fertilizer conservation. The crops growing on this kind of soil start in the early stage and decline easily in the later stage. We should pay attention to the light and frequent application of fertilizer, and pay attention to the later use of fertilizer.
And the sand
: the township has 2266 mu (151.1 HA), accounting for 5.05% of the cultivated land. The soil is coarse silt or coarse sand, with strong sandy property, strong lime reflection and poor section differentiation. Due to strong sandy property, poor aggregate structure, scattered soil particles, easy hardening after rain, poor air permeability, it is easy to suffocate and kill crop seedlings. The soil is loose, poor in water and fertilizer conservation, and poor in fertility. It is also a soil to be improved.
population
As of 2008, there were more than 11800 households in the township, 33000 registered residence, more than 3000 migrant population, and nearly 30 thousand residents in the whole township.
