Xiaodongmen Street

Xiao Dongmen street is located in the eastern part of Huangpu District, Shanghai, east of Huangpu River, south of Lu Jia Bang Road, west of Yu Garden Town God's Temple, north of new Kai river the Bund. It is named after the "small East Gate", one of the 10 gates around the old city.

In history, Xiaodongmen area has dense population, narrow roads and developed small businesses. It used to be the center of goods, workshops and trading center of agricultural and sideline products between the north and the south. Shiliupu used to be the largest agricultural and sideline products distribution center in Shanghai. It has a hundred year old shop such as dexingguan, Wanyouquan, Feng Wantong and tonghanchun. Xiaodongmen street, after several administrative adjustments, covers an area of 2.59 square kilometers in 2007. Thanks to the development opportunity of both sides of Shanghai's Pujiang River, Xiaodongmen is becoming a hot spot for economic development.

Xiaodongmen Street extends from Laodong to Huangxi, to kualong Road, Guangqi South Road, Fuxing East Road, Sipailou Road, fangbang middle road and Renmin Road, and to Xinkaihe road in the north. The Huangpu line is 3388 meters along the river, and the small half line (the boundary between Xiaodongmen community and bansongyuan community) is 1352 meters, with a total perimeter of 7494 meters. There are 74994 residents (in 2010) and 21 residents' committees. History and Humanities

Before liberation, the area belonged to Yimiao district.

In 1950, it was the first winter Defense Office in Yimiao district.

In 1951, it was changed into the first dispatch office and the second dispatch office (part).

In 1955, it was divided into four offices: Shiliupu, laotaipingnong, Fuxing East Road and Xiaodongmen.

In 1958, it was merged into Xiaodongmen sub district office, located at No. 10, Lane 100, Zhongshan South Road. In 1988, four neighborhood committees, Laoxin street, Zixia Road, Cuifeng and Xinma, under the jurisdiction of wangjiatou street, were merged into 15 neighborhood committees, including Longtan, Pinghu, Dongmen, Dongcun, Xicun, Xintai, xiangua, Zhonghua, Xiyao, Jukui and Kangjia, with 506 resident groups, 17744 permanent residents and 49532 people, including 25 Hui, Meng, man and Miao ethnic minorities.

The area is located in the sixteen shop, adjacent to Town God's Temple and Yu Garden, and is an economically prosperous area. During the reign of Qianlong and Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty, there were many masts and shops along the river in Shiliupu, where thousands of merchants gathered. Yanghang street and xiangua street became the north-south goods concentration and agricultural and sideline products trading center in Shanghai. There are many theatres and entertainment places near Xiaodongmen, such as Sanya garden, Dangui garden and Fuan company, which are the earliest commercial theatres in Shanghai. Before liberation, local ruffians and hooligans were rampant in the area of Xiaodongmen and Shiliupu, and the wharf bullies were rampant. During the Songhu war in 1937, hundreds of houses near xiangua street and Zhongshan South Road were destroyed. In the spring of 1950, it was bombed by Kuomintang planes again, causing serious losses in the area under its jurisdiction.

Thanks to the development opportunity of both sides of Shanghai's Pujiang River, Xiaodongmen is becoming a hot spot for economic development. 12 commercial buildings, 1043 enterprises and 1343 individual businesses have laid the economic foundation for regional development. Shiliupu in Xiaodongmen sub district is the largest distribution center of agricultural and sideline products in Shanghai. There are more than 20 large and medium-sized wholesale and trading markets. The most influential ones are: Poultry and egg trade center, agricultural and sideline products trade warehouse, native products trade center, fruit wholesale and trading market, etc. In 1992, the turnover exceeded 1 billion yuan, of which fruit trade accounted for 70% of the whole city.

In recent years, the number of customers has increased dramatically, and the commercial service industry has developed rapidly. There are more than 700 national, collective and individual stores. Among them, dexingguan, Wanyouquan pickle shop, fengwantong soy sauce garden, dongshengyang tea shop, tonghanchun national medicine brand and so on are all famous century old stores.

Since the 1980s, the streets have successively established economic entities such as cooperative association, labor service company and civil affairs welfare company, with more than 110 enterprises and more than 3000 employees. In 1991, the output value (turnover) reached 35.4 million yuan, the tax paid was 2.14 million yuan, and the profit was 4.1 million yuan. In 1992, the street was listed as a reform pilot community by the district government, and the street enterprises merged to set up Shiliupu industry and trade company, with a turnover of 55 million yuan and a tax profit of 9 million yuan.

Livelihood work

In Xiaodongmen, people's livelihood issues are highly valued. The old district reconstruction for the purpose of improving living conditions is being actively carried out. The total area of newly built commercial housing is 750000 square meters, accounting for 47% of the total residential area. There are five projects under construction or to be built. 92 civil servants, more than 100 public servants, 68 grass-roots party branches and 3200 community party members are running to mobilize the society, ensuring the 21% of the community %The basic living standards of the elderly population, 16% of the unemployed (unemployed), 2% of the disabled, and 4% of the minimum living security personnel are basically the same. Since the 1980s, xiyaojianong, Zhongfu new village, Fuxing East Road, laotaipingnong and other new buildings have been built in the area, and more than 20 high-rise buildings have sprung up.
