Xiangfang District is the jurisdiction of Harbin. Located in the southeast of the city, Xiangfang District borders Acheng District in the East, Nangang District in the north and Pingfang District in the West. The total area of the region is 208.5 square kilometers, of which the urban area is 18.5 square kilometers. The population is 330000, of which 240000 are non-agricultural; the population of Manchu, Korean, Hui, Mongolian and other 20 Ethnic Minorities accounts for 6.3% of the total population. The origin of place names
Xiangfang District, one of the birthplaces of Harbin, was once the "Royal Forbidden Garden" in the mainland of Jin Dynasty. Xiangfang got its name from the appearance of "Xianxiang workshop" in the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty (1796-1820). At the same time, because there are people surnamed Tian cooking pot, also known as "Tian family cooking pot". In the late Qing Dynasty, Juyuan Shaoguo, located in the east of today's Xiangfang District, had a semicolon in Butou district (today's Daoli District). Because Xiangfang was higher than Daoli, it was called "Shanghao" and Daoli "xiahao". Due to the construction of the Middle East Railway, it was initially measured at Xiangfang pre built railway station and named Harbin station. Later, the central railway station was moved to qinjiagang (now Harbin Station), and people also called Xiangfang area "old Harbin".
Historical evolution
Xiangfang area, in the late Qing Dynasty, was under the jurisdiction of Acheng county.
In 1898, the Middle East Railway was built and a railway station was set up in Xiangfang, known as Harbin post. Tianjiashaoguo was bought as the station of Railway Engineering Bureau, and xixiangfang was designated as a railway subsidiary.
After the founding of the Republic of China and 1921, the middle east railway line was under the jurisdiction of Harbin Municipal Administration Bureau of the special region of the eastern province.
After the fall of Northeast China, it was put under the jurisdiction of Harbin special city on July 1, 1933.
On July 1, 1938, the puppet Harbin Municipal Office announced the urban regulations, abolished the Baojia system, implemented the district system, and established Xiangfang District. There are four urban districts, namely Shengyong street, Liushun street, Youfang street and Tongtian street, and four rural districts, namely hepingfang, Chaoyang, dagaha and Liushulin.
After the victory of the Anti Japanese war in 1945, Xiangfang District was under the jurisdiction of Harbin.
After the liberation of Harbin in 1946, Xiangfang District was established according to the new administrative division. In February 1950, Harbin municipal government decided to change Xiangfang District into a suburb, with 25 administrative villages including wangjiadian, Moli street, Chaoyang, bungalow, Xinxiangfang and Pingxin under its jurisdiction.
In 1952, Ping'an and Pingshun administrative villages in Shuangcheng county were put under the jurisdiction of Xiangfang District.
In January 1953, the division of districts was adjusted, the urban and suburban areas were divided, the rural areas were put under the jurisdiction of the newly established cottage district (suburb), and the original Xiangfang District was changed into urban area.
In 1958, during the people's commune period, the electromechanical commune was set up as a power zone.
In 1959 and 1960, Shicao commune in Acheng county and 10 production teams in Xinxiang commune and Sheli commune were assigned to Xiangfang District.
In March 1963, the rural communes in the suburbs were classified as Binjiang District.
In August 1972, Xiangyang, Xingfu and Heping communes in Binjiang District were put under the jurisdiction of Xiangfang District.
In 1984, the government and society were separated, and the commune was changed into the township system.
In May 1985, Heping Township and chenggaozi sub district office were merged into chenggaozi town.
In August 2006, with the approval of the State Council, Xiangfang District and power district were abolished and a new Xiangfang District was established.
