Historical evolution
Locomotive street is named after its location along the railway line of Harbin east railway station.
In 1958, locomotive commune was established, belonging to Taiping District.
In 1979, it was changed into a railway locomotive street, still belonging to Taiping District.
On March 24, 2004, Daowai District and Taiping District were merged, and the new district was named Daowai District, and then locomotive street was Daowai District.
