Historical evolution
It originally belonged to yangwalik District of Aksu county.
In 1955, yujimai township was assigned to tamutoglak District of Awati county.
In 1958, the whole district was assigned to Awati county and yangwalik commune was established.
In 1967, it was renamed Xiangyang commune.
In 1980, the original name was restored.
In August 1984, the commune was withdrawn and the township was built.
