History of construction
In the early Qing Dynasty, reclamation was forbidden. In the late Qing Dynasty, it belonged to yunhebao of Huairen county. In 1902, it was assigned to Ji'an County.
During the Japanese puppet period, it belonged to Hexi village. In 1937, it belonged to Taiwang District of Ji'an street. In May 1946, it belonged to Chengguan District.
In February 1956, two townships of Taiwang and yangyutou were set up, belonging to Ji'an town.
In June 1958, yangyutou township was merged into Taiwang township; in September of the same year, it was merged with Ji'an town and Maxian Township into Hongqi commune and changed into Taiwang management area; in December of the same year, it belonged to Ji'an town commune.
In May 1961, it belongs to urban commune.
In March 1962, it was divided into three communes: Ji'an Town, Tai Wang and Ma Xian.
In March 1983, Taiwang commune was changed into Taiwang township.
In April 1988, it belongs to Ji'an city.
In December 1996, Guoshuchang township was merged into Taiwang township.
In December 1999, yangcha town was merged into Taiwang township.
