The demonstration farm is a 4.77 square kilometer farm located 20 kilometers northwest of Donggang City, Liaoning Province.

In 2002, the demonstration breeding farm was awarded the title of "rice seed credit unit" by Donggang Technical Supervision Bureau and Donggang rural developers; in Donggang Administration for Industry and commerce, Donggang consumption Committee was awarded the title of "honest business unit"; and the trademark of "Gangyuan" was designated as a famous trademark of Liaoning Province. Donggang demonstration farm is a state-owned institution built in April 1949, with a total area of 4.77 square kilometers and total assets of 37 million yuan. It has 4000 mu of breeding fields, 242 professional and technical workers and 48 scientific research personnel. It is an excellent rice variety production farm with provincial seed production license and business license, which integrates scientific research, production, demonstration and promotion In addition, it undertakes the national "863" scientific research project and the experimental projects of eight scientific research institutions, including the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. In June 2011, the first agricultural academician workstation in Liaoning Province was established in the demonstration farm. Over the past 60 years since the establishment of the demonstration farm, more than 50 varieties of conventional rice and hybrid rice have been selected and popularized, which has played an important role in rice production in the Yellow Sea rice region. Among them, conventional rice "Baijin 16" and "Jingyue No.1" won the "science and Technology Progress Award" of the Ministry of agriculture and Liaoning provincial government respectively; hybrid rice "Tiyou 418" and conventional rice "Gangyuan No.8" won the "science and Technology Progress Award" of Dandong Municipal government ”Liaoyou 2006 and Liaoyou 5218 were rated as "high tech products" by Dandong City. in recent years, in order to meet the needs of high yield, high resistance and high quality of rice, more than 8 million yuan of state funds have been obtained to update and transform the water conservancy facilities, scientific research facilities, seed storage and processing facilities. There are 27 bridges, culverts and gates, more than 30000 hardened channels in the field, 1700 square meters of seed storehouse, 800 square meters of seed processing workshop and 4000 square meters of seed drying field. It is equipped with 10 seed cleaning machines, 2 automatic seed packaging lines, net greenhouse, low-temperature germplasm resource bank, scientific research laboratory and supporting seed testing equipment. While constantly updating the infrastructure of seed base, we should further strengthen the development and production management of new varieties. In order to improve the quality of seeds, the management mechanism of "six unifications" and "two vetoes" should be strictly implemented. (i.e. unifying variety layout and supply of original seeds; unifying technical operation procedures; unifying fertilizer and water management and pest control; unifying time and standard to strictly remove impurities and inferior products; unifying transportation, threshing and warehousing; unifying selective packaging and sales; implementing one vote veto for seeds whose purity does not reach the standard and whose pest exceeds the standard, and forbidding warehousing). The seed quality has been steadily improved, and the coverage has been expanded year by year, covering not only Dandong, Dalian and Anshan, but also Henan and Xinjiang. Hybrid rice has been planted in Korea and Turkmenistan. In order to improve the scientific and technological content of varieties, the demonstration farm further improved the scientific research and development system, established professional scientific research team, and successively established technical cooperation with eight national and provincial scientific research institutions, including the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Liaoning Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Shenyang Agricultural University, Tianjin original seed farm, etc., introducing nearly 1000 test materials for test screening every year. Experts of conventional rice breeding and hybrid rice seed production were employed to guide the scientific research work. Chen Wenfu, Xie Hua'an, Luo Xiwen, Guo Yuyuan, Zhang Qifa, Yang Zhenyu, Li Zhikang, Feng Ruiying, Hua Zetian and other domestic well-known rice experts, as well as water rice experts from the United States, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Germany, India and other countries came to the field for many times to exchange work. In 2003, the demonstration farm was listed as the transformation base of rice scientific research achievements by Liaoning Academy of Agricultural Sciences, which provided scientific and technological support for the breeding and development of "Gangyuan" brand series rice seeds and improved the seed quality. now, the demonstration farm has become a production base of improved varieties with standardized infrastructure, systematic scientific research and development, and standardized production management.
